We were staying at the nearby marina preparing a new boat for travel. My mother if French so I was looking for a traditional French restaurant that was within walking distance. Little did we know what we were getting into.
The restaurant must have gone through changes since it was last reviewed. The interior is hilarious! Laundry hangs from the ceiling on clothes lines and the servers (men) were wearing dresses. The place is pretty casual, but dang the food is just like my mom used to make. My two friends had the lamb and I had the fish stew. We lapped up everything and wrapped up with oeuf a la neige (egg whites in cream sauce). The whole time the owner would come over and check on us and make us laugh. At the end of the evening, the owner came over with a wine bag and shot alcohol of some type into each of our mouths. Afterwards, something went wrong ordering a taxi and the owner jammed us into his little car and drove us to the boat.
It was a December evening to remember. If you want a great place to eat, with a crazy atmosphere that creates memories at great prices... I highly recommend a memorial evening at Le Plaisance! read more
