The plates were Turkish and had beautiful patterns in dark colors. Everything was beautiful, coarse and moody. But then there was the food, which just took away all the extra points from the interior. It felt indifferent, plain and bland. And it is a really bad sign when you hear the microwave go on just before your food is being served. How can a turkish restaurant serve bad hummus? It tasted like one of these you can by on can. Further on, a good restaurants never serves food on iceberg lettuce, I mean, com on, it tastes just as horrible as it's look. Secondly, WHY do we get a portion of these frozen, yellow-white fries that you buy on supermarket? Ottoman has great potential. But they need to improve the food and make it passionately and with elegance as good Middle East food are meant to be.

Monfort is a fairy tale storybook cute village that is not over run with tourist hordes. That is amazing given that it is located close to the Dordogne river recreational activities. Bambi and I wandered the village to be amazed by the cleanliness, tidiness, and charm of the place. And real people live here, we saw families at most homes enjoying their summer evenings. Do come to see for yourself. Our meal. Charcuterie, foie gras, salmon, giant mushroom omelette, lamb chops, 1 full liter of wine, 2 cups of coffee. Full bellies. Big smiles of contentment. Total bill = 66 euros. Delightful service by mom. A real charming, home spun character. Generous in spirit. Practically no English. I'm staying here 3 more nights. No sooner than we sat down and the place filled up, and with good reason - the food was fantastic. Rustic, flavorful, fantastic. Started out with salad with warm cheese - surprisingly the cheese was baked in puffed pastry and was excellent. The greens were accompanied with a delicate oil and vinegar dressing. The main courses was a beef pie, cooked in beer with fresh herbs - delicious. What made the visit especially enjoyable was that the chef dropped by our table, was charming , totally unpretentious and visibly pleased that we enjoyed our meal. A great experience.
