This used to be a great place, but recently something has gone terribly wrong!
Warning: Phosphore is no longer a tapas restaurant
The view is undeniably amazing but unfortunately that's the last positive thing I have to say as this was my *worst* dining experience. Eating here was a train wreck in slow motion complete with waiting an hour between courses, a server who repeatedly lost his temper and raised his voice to clients, a tense atmosphere, and a drunk man who was not properly dealt with. The food was good, but overpriced for small portions-nothing the view can compensate for. The lack of professionalism was shocking. I had been to Phosphore before and enjoyed my experiences, but it's clear the restaurant has changed for the worst.
My friend and I arrive at the restaurant-we are taken to our seats and then we wait, and wait, and wait. At this point there is only one other table.
After waiting at least 15 minutes without so much as an acknowledgment or menu, we ask the server for the wine menu- we are surprised to see that only bottles are listed. We have to wait to get the server's attention to get a menu that has wine by the glass. Finally, we get our order in for wine, and then we get the food menu.
To my surprise they completely rebranded Phosphore. What was once a fun tapas bar with many affordable bites is now a "bistronomie" restaurant, which means tiny portions- a menu at 32 euro which left people disappointed and hungry. The entire menu consisted of only 5 items and a cheese course. If you are looking for the old Phosphore, you will be disappointed.
After receiving our wine we had to wait at least another 45 minutes just to *order* our food, which is surprising seeing as the menu only has 5 items. So imagine, being at a restaurant and waiting an hour before you even place an order.
During this time, a table of diners made a scene because they didn't like their view. Their temper tantrum was not dealt with well. It was distracting and so loud. Eventually they were moved to a new table and a large commotion was made out of it.
Food was coming out so slowly that other diners were visibly upset. The atmosphere at the restaurant was tense.
As we are waiting impossible amounts of time between courses and basically having to beg for bread, in walks a very drunk man. This man was bothering clients, and claimed to be a friend of the chef. Despite bothering clients, he was not dealt with properly. He ended up touching my friend which of course was upsetting.
A couple described the various scene the best way- they said they felt as if they were on a hidden camera show (one drunk guy, an unprofessional server who claims he wants to quit, and questionable clientele).
We were later told that the evening was so slow (nearly FOUR hours!) because they were testing a new menu. I have to ask, why are we paying top prices, for a poor execution? On an already limited menu, there were already 3 substitutions, and service was impossibly long.
Long story short, this was a terrible dining experience. Slow service, completely different menu and style without forewarning clients upon reservation. If you have been here before the past few weeks, readjust your expectations. read more
