What a waste of time! My husband and I walked the entire length of the beach in Cannes, around to the marina, and up the hill to a panoramic view of Cannes, which is beautiful at night! At the point we hopped on to this little train, we figured we'd see something new. Nope!
Not only did this train not really go anywhere that isn't easily walked, the schedule was not regular and the driver did not adhere to his own posted schedule on a chalkboard. If the train is scheduled to depart at 4:30pm, then it should depart at 4:30pm, not 4:50pm.
During the stop up the hill to take pictures of the city, our driver stated we had 10 minutes to take photos. After everyone was back on the trolley, two gals came up to him to chit chat, giggle, take selfies with him, ask for directions, blah, blah, blah. This went on for another solid 10 minutes with no regard for those of us who paid to ride and who were waiting to leave and continue the ride. We were freezing cold at this point and just wanted to leave. He allowed those two gals to hop on in and get a ride back down the hill. That's just wrong, but those gals knew exactly what they were doing and lured him into allowing them to ride for free.
My husband and I have taken several similar tours in other cities, and this one was the least interesting of all...and at 10 EUR/person, well, it's just a rip-off. Thankfully, our ride was free as a gift, but was honestly a waste of 1.5 hours that we lost in Cannes and could have been doing something enjoyable.
Something to note -- The trolley is equipped with headsets, but bring your own earbuds! In order to hear the narration in any language, you must listen to the pre-recorded message as there is no live narration on this "tour". Frankly though, I don't even recommend this unless you feel like wasting time in Cannes. read more
