But have you ever dined out in a bathtub or bed? At first it seems like a cute vegetarian cafe/brasserie along the canal- unassuming and fairly standard. Vegetarian dishes are the highlight here, meat and eggs can be added for extra. Then you walk upstairs and see the uniquely decorated "home" that puts a new spin on "eating in". We came for the weekend brunch 12-3pm. All orders placed at the counter consisted of a couple croissants, a light entree, a dessert, and all you can have coffee, juice, baguette, butter, and jam for 24€. We were given the pastries, and a buzzer to collect our entree and dessert when they were ready from the basement kitchen. So you'll definitely need to be with people who can walk up and down stairs while holding plates- and maybe more than one plate if someone needs to hold a spot at tables. It is pricier than other brunches nearby, but it is also a novelty and part of what you're paying for is the unlimited nature of the buffet and time you will occupy the adorably decorated but limited space. read more

The veggie salad was filling and also vegan You feel like you're in a vintage Parisian home, make sure to sit upstairs in one of the rooms (bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, or dining room) Staff was very kind and helped me with translating French to English. This is the quirkiest little place in Paris! I love everything about it; from dining on the patio overlooking the canal, to playing lawn games and walking to Paris Plages, to sipping coffee in a freaking bathtub, and to the service. Everything here has exceeded my expectations, and despite all the crowds lured in by Le Pavillon des Canaux in the summer, I've always managed to find a great place to sit and relax with a meal, coffee, or a cocktail. I come back every time I'm in Paris, and I always make sure to bring friends with me who've never been. It's such a highlight of my day and always worth the hilarious photo ops! read more

Lovely cafe/bar with great outdoor space at the side of the canal. Really popular so can be difficult to get a seat outside. The staff are friendly, the menu is good (I only had a drink) but there's plenty of choice. Very family friendly. If I was staying local this would be a definitely go to place. read more

Definitely the most interesting coffee shop/cafe I've ever been to. You can eat your muffin and sip your tea in the tub, or on the bed. We had some wine and some beer - both good, but the key to the place is the atmosphere. We ended up actually hanging out in the outdoor seating area because the weather and view were perfect. 2nd night in paris - had one of the best nights in my entire life. the atmosphere was very welcoming and home-y as opposed to the feels of the other clubs/bars i am used to or even wandered into on my trip so far. the energy was great, everyone was enjoying themselves and having such a good time. there were 2 djs, both SO good, there was a beautiful woman spinning and she had me so overwhelmed with happiness hearing so many of the songs ive forgot about. danced all night until they kicked us out (they were closing lol) the bouncer was laughing at us because we didnt want to leave - also a very cool guy the decor was the best - almost vintage/thrifted yet modern and cozy. very cool idea for a bar/club, gave it almost a house party feel. a must try spot.. staff were great. the bar lady was trying to understand my poor french and help me with me trying to order something i didnt see on the menu, no iced latte for me but instead she gave me a great iced tea! wish i could have tried the food, also got to play with very cool cat hanging out in the front outside area. the place is very fun and exiting but the food is very underwhelming. for 24€ we got lots of mediocre food that i would not recommend. however, the servers were very kind. maybe come for a coffee and a fun place to sit, but not brunch. read more

Really unique place. Awesome setting right beside the canal with friendly staff. Feels like you exploring someone's quirky home. Easy to find a spot to get comfortable and hang out. I only had coffee which was good but I really just came for the setting. Next time I will try to get there early to get the bathtub! read more

After a lovely bike tour our small group ended up here for a drink. This cozy cafe is a mix between a doll house, your grandmother's sitting room, and shabby chic. In honor of the new season of Twin Peaks, they're offering a Laura Palmer. I dined on their quiche which was divine (and the first I had in France so a good introduction). Great ambiance and very laid-back. They have funky dining rooms with a unique theme to suit your mood (you can eat in a bathtub). read more

Interior decor is mind blowing. They put so much thought into designing each room. I just love this place to meet friends or to get some work done (they have wifi). As you can tell from the photos, le pavillon des canaux has a very cool atmosphere as a renovated house. I ordered a house-made, non-alcoholic hibiscus drink, and it was great. It's a bit pricey, but bonjour à Paris! The atmosphere is young and hip(stiry). Nice to meet friends here on a summer night and maybe sit along the north-end of the Canal St Martin. You won't find many tourists, which is a nice relief even if you are a tourist yourself. Just my opinion: visit, take a drink, look around, but... not quite worth the effort to visit frequently. read more

A delightful coffee house, with clean and comfortable rooms. I was happy to find that they served filtered coffee - something I haven't been able to easily find since I left the US - and I was even happier with how good it was! Le Pavillon des Canaux staffers are nice, hard-working, and attentive. I wouldn't have thought I was in Paris if it weren't for Petit Bateau-clad children splashing in the Canal below. Cocktails have names like "Maverick" and "Jellybean." Each well-priced beverage comes garnished with a fresh and perfect strawberry. We tried Altiplano, a gluten-free quinoa beer with a llama label. It was really good! The food is fresh, flavorful and wholesome, and decor is a cross between Carol Brady's basement, Laura Ashley, and a Billy Baldwin masterpiece- all hummingbird wallpaper and faux sheepskin and mini neon straws. Tip: Eat in the bathtub. It's surprisingly comfortable. read more

I'm so glad to finally have a spot "way up here" in the 19th that my friends don't roll their eyes at when I ask them to meet me here. If it's their first time coming, they'll sigh and tell me that they'll come for a little bit but then have to head back "into the city" (when did the 19th get excommunicated from Paris?) to do something more fun/important. But, after a drink on the (now covered) terrace, a game of pétanque , and a view from afar of the twinkling Eiffel Tower, I have them hooked. This place is also a weekday destination for me as it's a great co-working space. I can pick my ambiance of a comfy chair or sit at a table and use the free wifi until my heart's content. Plus they host a really interesting line-up of events. I've heard the brunch on the weekends is great, but I haven't yet had the chance to go. Le Pavillon is the place to go to get away from the "regular" canal crowd and mingle with us cool cats who live in the hollers. read more
