The atmosphere is a little rustic, but not too kitsch. We began with aperitifs (pastis for me and port for my companion), delivered right after we were seated. We received complimentary "tastes" of e delicious onion soup. For appetizer, I had salad with pate and langoustine. Everything fresh and beautifully presented. We both had the coquilles St. Jacques with mango for dinner. The dish was served piping hot, and came with plenty of seafood. We never did find the mango, but it was delicious nonetheless. We drank a lovely bottle of Sauternes recommended by our amiable hostess. After the main meal, we ate delightful white cheese -- soft and smooth- served with pear slices. And finally, we ended with a dessert made from the last clementines of the season, surrounded by chocolate. All in all a very memorable meal. From the looks and sounds of other diners, pretty much everyone was enjoying themselves. This place is a tad more expensive than others in the Vieux Lyon district, but is worth every bit. Go and enjoy! This place loses one star because we couldn't find the mangos in our dinner, and it is on the noisy side. Still, far above average in my view.

We had some restaurant tickets to use up so we wandered down the road of "rue des marrionners" to scope out a place to eat. Le Caveau enticed us with a 13 € menu that had three courses. Happy to go there we ordered the following (with stars and description): Entrée: Cassolet des ravioles à la crême citronnée, or raviolis with citrus cream. This was a big portion, but I'd only give it 2/5, simply because the sauce itself was very plain and tasted mostly like creme fraiche with a squeeze of lemon. With lots of salt and pepper it became better. Main Dish: Tartiflette au St Marcelin. If you have no idea what this is, google it now. This on was the best I've had, the bacon bits and the St. Marcelin created this gooey delight. Better in the winter, but great for a hangover. Dessert: Flan with Marrons or chestnuts and cream. Super squishy and wonderfully flavored! I definitely plan to come back. It's a cheap restaurant for some good food and a happy server.. terrace or indoors, it's definitely on my top ten.

Very good one for an entrée. 【Quenelle de brochet sauce Nantua】Fresh, tasty, yummy, soft and cheesy. Very typical lyonnaise food and I liked it a lot. 【Bière】I really like meals with beer, quenching and refreshing. And because it was in the afternoon, I saw many young ppl sitting outside, nearby Place Bellecour, grabbing a beer in hand, chatting and enjoying the sunshine. 【Tarte aux pralines】This was really one of my favorite desserts so far. Since lunch at Le Caveau was my last meal in Lyon, how could I miss praline? It was soft, juicy and of course delicious. 【Café】Salty food lets me try everything; sweet dessert clears out all the messy tastes in my mouth; and un café with taste of bitter ends a meal perfectly. This was an enjoyable luch. Carry: 【Saucisson chaud et pomme vapeur】Another sausage. Lyonnaise just love all kinds of sausage right? But this was really good! It was stuffed with much pistachio, and the sauce was amazing 【Boudin noir et son duo de pommes】Yes this is the blood sausage. Well.... Yes we Chinese also eat blood so... I can't say this is crazy, but still felt a bit uncomfortable about what I was eating. The touch of it was weird, the taste was not that bad. I've talked to a Lyonnaise 【Tarte Tatin】Carry somehow really missed apple tart so she ordered one. It was hot, sweet and delicious. I didn't really like hot desserts, preferring cold ones better. Though this is a Lyonnaise restaurant, yet it also has typical American dishes. Say there was a man coming by and has a huge plate of burger and fries, which looked tempting.

I think that if you are a meat eater, this place is good - maybe even great. But if you are a…read morevegetarian, it's not worth the price. Here is my experience. First, I will preface this with the following story. Despite asking my French friend to make sure the restaurant knew there were two vegetarians in the party while making our reservation, he failed to do so. However, when we arrived and the chef was told, he said it was no problem as long as we ate eggs and mushrooms. We both agreed that we did and the show went on. The chef comes to your table to explain the day's menu to you. That's pretty cool. He even speaks English so he can explain it to you in multiple languages if you ask nicely. You select an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert or cheese plate. The total cost per person is 26€. They also have apéritifs, digestifs, and wine that will, of course, raise your tab considerably. My appetizer was the vegetable soup sans whatever cephalopod was normally added at the last minute before being served. (The chef said it was like squid but not exactly the same.) This was pretty boring. I think I make a better vegetable soup at home. Next came the main course, which for us vegetarians, consisted of a lightly scrambled egg with mushrooms and fresh herbs and all the sides that the other plates received: pureed sweet potato, a turnip stuffed with a tomato and cumin mixture and some chevre, roasted red peppers, scalloped potatoes, and two blinis. The least interesting part of the meal was definitely the egg mixture as it just tasted like egg with a few herbs and chunks of mushroom. The other components were all tasty, though I felt there was too much cumin in the turnip as it bled over to all the other parts of the dish. For dessert, I chose a mango cream option served on a thin sponge cake with a raspberry sauce. This was very light and not my favorite dessert. I didn't even finish it, which is rare as I love sweets. My husband and most of the table ordered the cheese plate and seemed quite happy with it however. Maybe that's the way to go at Le Tibouren. I may be willing to try this place again later, making sure the chef is aware of my dietary choices when we make the reservation. I'm not sure if it would make a difference or not but I would certainly give them the chance. If that happens, I'll be sure to update my review.
