We ate here in summer 2015 on a trip through southern France…read more
I had an appetizer of scallops served with a beet or cassis sauce (I forget now which, but it was deep purple). The sauce was far too powerful for the scallops and didn't enhance the dish at all. Luckily, the sauce was on the side, but it meant that what I ate was essentially plain scallops. For the main course, I had a magret de canard, which was supposed to be in a foie gras sauce, but I didn't sense that at all. The magret was supposed to be rare too, but it was cooked through. The most frustrating part of the meal, however, was the service. We spoke in French the whole time, and yet our young waitress could not understand us at all, from the moment we asked for a table, to when we were paying for the check. We had to repeat everything multiple times. She is the only person the entire trip who had any trouble understanding our French, so I don't think it was a problem with us. She just got very curt with us and avoided interacting with our table.
Based on the food experience, I might have given the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but the service experience ruled out any chance of us coming back.
