We liked it so much here, that we came here two evenings in the row!…read more The restaurant is cozy, spacious and has plenty of different types of seating, depending what is your preference. We sat in the smaller room on the right, which also has a heating stove for the cooler days. And huge, spacious terrace in the summer, which we didn't get to utilize as it wasn't that warm when we were there. The wait staff was fast, easy going and attentive to our needs. The walls arch quite a bit, as my husband found out, when he bumped his head. That shows to pay more attention in historical buildings, such as this one. They have good variety of traditional Czech dishes. The menu is both in Czech and English. We ordered: Home-made liver pate with onion marmalade and bread. It was so good, we basically "woofed it down" and ordered another one. Home-made cabbage soup - thick, hot and delicious. Definitely hit the spot. Beef goulash with dumplings - the quality of meat was first class. Classic dish that you can't go wrong with. Roast pork with cabbage and dumplings - the most traditional dish you can possibly order in Czechia. It was divine. Mulled wine - which was my most favorite part of the dinner :) Highly recommend trying this place out when visiting Cesky Krumlov, you won't regret it.

Cheese and potatoes with tart were better at Lokar in Prague. The beer- Eggenberg hefelager was awesome. Started with a small and then got a large!! Also the bread they served on the side is quite good. Nice service, cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend. Cash only.

This might be the only restaurant in Cesky Krumlov where locals actually come to eat and drink...I…read morethink I saw 4 tables, all speaking Czech with the waitress. The waitress was friendly enough, the ambience was old Czech cozy pub. This was the only eatery/vendor that only took cash, and of course, I had none on me! But she trusted me to go to the ATM/Bankomat and come and pay...cause I'm an honest guy of course! 336 CZK/$15.25 Grilled trout with herb butter and garlic, Potatoes, Lemon...it was simply roasted with salt and pepper, then brushed and herb butter and garlic. It was relatively basic and makes for a nice lighter meal. 79CZK/$3.60 Carrot & Horseradish salad...I was fascinated by this and had to try it, especially since it was so cheap! Fresh shredded carrot mixed with a bit of fresh shredded horseradish...delicious, and a great way to clear your nostrils! 62CZK/$2.80 Glass of White Wine...perfect with my fish dinner, and I love these Czech prices!!!

Cozy, reasonably priced place for very decent Italian food in Cesky Krumlov…read more Comfy seating areas both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating area includes a playground for kids too :) Would highly recommend the spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncino if you can take spicy, and the pizza prosciutto di parma. The pasta is hand-made; very tasty and slightly chewy (a bit on the harder side, which I personally like). Excellent prosciutto on the pizza and tasty crust (not too thin, but not too thick either). The mixed salad with cheese and olives and the spaghetti bolognese were solid choices as well. We had a very patient and helpful waiter, service was excellent and we left feeling replenished and satisfied!

In cesky krumlov this is the best place for coffee and espresso by far!!! Super impressed by this…read moreplace! I was wandering around the center looking for a coffee place open on a Sunday morning and found cafe retro. Staff was very kind, spoke English, Czech and some German. Interior is very classy but still casual. Very clean, neat and organized- I think couples, single and small groups best for here. Kid ah, maybe if they are well behaved. More a place to be social but people are still working on their laptops because here comes the shocker....they have free wifi!!!! Not many places here do besides hotels so that's a selling point. Their prices are fair for the location, 50 crowns for latte, 35 for espresso and so on. They also have quite a few different brews to choose from-impressive If you're a coffee lover in this small town with not many options. They also have some real food here too so if you get hungry while here don't worry, you don't even have to leave. Think pizza, pasta and steak amount others. All looked delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone in cesky krumlov- great hangout!
