Herrenmühleühle checked all of the bookmarks: beautiful ambiance and French-inspired cuisine using seasonal ingredients. Our Tunesian waiter (I'm not 100% on his name, but believe it was Fahti) was phenomenal. He was always there when we needed him, cracked jokes that kept us going, and was just genuinely a nice guy. He is a keeper! Initially, I was disappointed when we got the menu. I was dead set on trying their lobster bisque with langoustines, but the menu changed. Story of my life. The amuse bouche quicky turned my frown upside down, as it was very tasty. So here's everything I ended up gettin: -Chestnut soup with duckbreast (2.5/5): I didn't understand this dish at all. The duck strips were served on the side with orange slices. It was odd that the meat was served cold, but the flavor was great. The chestnut soup had a thick texture and was so sweet that I couldn't eat it. After two spoons, I was done. -Fillet (5/5): beautifully prepared piece of melt-in-your-mouth meaty goodness. The accompanying multi-colored carrots were flavorful and had a lovely cruch. We also had the fish dish and deer and my family enjoyed it. For dessert, we got a fig tart with baked apple sorbet. They added a mascarpone ice cream on the house, which we appreciated.

Service is excellent, the waiters were polite, attentive and even helped me take pictures. The food was fantastic! I had a bonito lentil salad, which had this excellent complexity from the smoothness of the bonito to the somewhat rough texture of the lentils, topped off with a cream cheese dressing that blended it all together nicely. Next I had a very smooth, creamy and frothy pea soup with fried prawns that came with caramelized yams, which also turned out to be a sublime experience. Next I had a veal, which was very tender, it was good, but not particularly noteworthy, followed by a very tasty trout ceviche, which had this lovely tang from the fruit sorbet. My main course was a grilled fjord trout, which was well cooked. This was a very pleasant experience, and I'd be sure to come back again should I return to Heidelberg!

My favorite of the Michelin Star restaurants in Stuttgart!…read more What is not to love about having a nice dinner in a castle?! I made my reservation with ease for dinner on a Saturday night at 6:30 PM (2030 if you're European) and was the first to arrive to the restaurant. I had the whole place to myself for over 45 minutes until other people started showing up. I was promptly greeted with a smile and warm welcome from the hostess at the front reception area. My coat was taken, and I was escorted down the hallway to the main dining room which was filled with mirrors, a fireplace, and elegant lighting. The mood was very relaxing and lounge-like. My German is still limited, but I am learning, but that didn't matter since my server was fluent in English. I was offered some sparkling wine that's local to the region and the menu. You could order ANYTHING off the menu as long as you ordered 4-8 courses. I roll big, so I rolled with 8 courses this evening. I had a selection of appetizers, meats, vegetables, and of course desserts. Everything is seasonal, but I really enjoyed the Icelandic cod, the venison, and all the desserts. The chef provides little tasting throughout the meal in between courses and a small sampling of chocolates at the end. I never had to wait for my drinks to be refilled, the staff was top notch and catered to me and the other guests throughout the experience. I had such a great experience, my wife made reservations so she could join me two weeks later. Again, we had a lovely evening out at the castle. I recommend this restaurant 100%!!!
