Sweet name for this fantastic, new artisanal ice cream shop located on the D900 as you enter the lovely village of Céreste, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Not a surprising name for this French owner who spent 10 years digitizing film all around Europe before settling there with his wife, an American writer. There is nothing deceitful about this place ! All of the ice creams and sorbets are made by hand with raw milk (we're not in the US!), organic eggs and fresh fruits. No artificial flavorings, preservatives or perfumes and one can taste the difference ! The Kenyan coffee has a rich, deep flavor of espresso and the honey and thyme tastes like the honey has just come from the bee combs... The Franco-American team pair up with suppliers whom they know personally, and whose work they respect. For example, their Pistachio ice cream has pistachios brought from a Sicilian farmer respectful of organic farming. The chocolate comes from the famous, local 'Chocolaterie de l'Opéra' in Avignon - who in the 70s innovated the first dark chocolate using 60% cocoa... Flavors are available in limited supply as they work with seasonal fruits at the peak of their maturity - so hurry before the cherry disappears until next season ! 5 stars for originality and execution! A few of their tantalizing flavors: Gianduja - mix of chocolate and hazelnut brings you back to childhood - Safran de Provence , Strawberries and cream 1001 nights, Smoked chocolate and Bergamote... Here's the breakdown of this nearly 10 euro dessert: 90% whipped cream 4% strawberries 2% strawberry yogurt 2% plain yogurt A measly single scoop for each. My husband got 2 individual scoops of ice cream which ran him close to 10 euro too and again, loaded with whipped cream. Somehow, our bill was close 25 euro.
