Walking past La Belle Normande, the crepes being made caught our eye and drew us in. The ambiance inside was pleasant enough. But the food itself was underwhelming. The sandwich was tough to chew and very light on meat and cheese. You're essentially paying a premium for bread. Everything tasted fine, just pretty basic. For the price and crowd size, I expected more. The staff seemed stretched thin, and the value just wasn't there. Good for a quick bite if you're nearby and patient, but temper your expectations.

La Java is an original joint, the real deal where the owner runs his shop with a good dose of humor and booze. Sit down, relax and don't take anything too seriously. The drinks are cheap, the company friendly and the atmosphere is like nothing you'll ever see anywhere else. Enjoy the happy bric-a-brac and wisecracking that pervades this gem of a cafe. A perfect place to dock your boat(Penichette ), Park your bike, stay overnight in their small newly built mini cabins and take a shower in their immaculate washing area. BUT don't forget the food. If this restaurant was located in Paris you couldn't get a reservation.
