With its all glass walls, the space was elegant and inviting. The kitchen was all glass so you can see the chefs preparing the food. We didn't have reservations, but the hostess found us a great table. Our main server was Alejandro and he was more than helpful in making sure we ordered what we wanted. With Italian food, I also prefer very good Italian wine versus a cocktail. He pointed me to 2 red wines that were bold and heavy as I requested. Both were just OK, but expensive. Wines by the bottle was ridiculously high. Regardless, he was great in steering me to the type of dishes more suited to what I was asking for and not just the most expensive. This restaurant has been highly recommended by my brother and sister in law for years. They had told us it was one of the best Italian food they have had anywhere. But, In its previous location, it just looked a bit stuffy for a CANCÚN vacation meal. At its new location, though it was still upscale, it seemed more approachable to us somehow. We just came back from a 10 day vacation at the Amalfi coast, and Rome, Italy. We found the pastas at Cenacolo to be comparable if not better. We had bruschetta, Ragu spaghetti, lasagna, and their chocolate soufflé. We had read that the soufflé was outstanding so we ordered 2. We were NOT disappointed with any of the food items.

My friend had the fruits de mer and he was very disappointed. For the price, there was hardly any seafood in the pasta and he had the same complaint that I had, it just wasn't very flavorful. When it was delivered it was WELL DONE. This was sent back and then 2 male waiters came to deliver same steak and tried to "educate" on cutting a steak (against the grain in middle...no sh!t). They wouldn't let us take picture of it. Steak was still WELL DONE and they proceeded to argue (even though no pink at all on 1st and minimal on next). Finally they took back and refired and it was ok (nothing special). Ruined dinner. Roberto (Mgr) came to see how meal was and wanted to argue that the first one really weren't wrong and we just didn't cut them right...(guess how that went over) They brought out a "celebration desert" which we ate a bit and thanked them for it but damage had been done. That will be last time we go there as it's pricey and this experience wasn't good. Learn temperatures of steak and don't send multiple people to argue if kitchen makes a mistake (it was a mistake). I took some notes and this is what I thought of the dishes. Xoajacan Imoladas - The mole is perfection. The flautas, superb. Everything in this plate is a symphony of what I would expect from Xoajaca. 9.5/10 Barbacoa Bonemarrow - Barcacoa is on point. The Marrow is Sublime. Together with the accompaniments is superb. I dream of Marrow everyday. This is a 10/10 Yellow fin Tosatadas - Superb!!! One of the best tostadas I have ever had. The microgreens, the sauce and the square Tostada works well all together. 8.8/10 Salmon - Cooked perfectly. The corn is a great accompaniment. The fish is impeccably seasoned. This dish is heaven sent with a 9.8/10 Grilled Octopus - Grilled perfectly, I can tell by the texture. The mash is superb, they used margarine instead of butter and I absolutely love the contrast from the traditional mash. 9.8/10 Mexican Rice - Its pretty good. It does have a nice seafoodish finish. Quería encargar una pasta para pasar a recogerla a la sucursal de plazas outlet, tuve que marcar 19 veces y hablar con la sucursal de la Bonampak, me dijeron que iban a intentar ponerse en contacto con ellos, la persona con la que hablé siempre fue super amable e intento ayudarme en todo momento, le dije que no se preocupara que yo iba a ir personalmente al restaurante a encargar mi pasta, fui y la pedí y esperaba ver al gerente para contarle lo que pasó, no lo vi y decidí que cuando regresara a recoger la pasta le diría. Pasó el tiempo y fui por mi pasta, me acerque a la caja y había un mesero sentado y una chica (hostess o cajera) con su mochila en las piernas del chico, sacando cosas y platicando,que por cierto lo único que hacen sus empleados es estar platicando y coqueteando entre ellos todo el tiempo, tuvo que pasar un minuto y que yo les tenga que decir HOLA?! para que me atendieran y me dieran mi pasta, no vi al gerente y no se lo pude comentar, pero por el terrible servicio no regreso a la sucursal de PLAZAS OUTLET.
