Falstaff is a staple in the Montparnasse neighborhood. The pub has various Belgian and international beers on tap, and a large bottled selection. The food is exactly what you need on that evening out for 1 beer that turns into five or so : mussels and fries, burgers, steak tartare. It's a noisy place with small tables, but cozy. If you're a beer lover, I recommend coming by here and enjoying some Belgian beers. They had a Carolus beer on tap that I tried in Belgium at a festival and loved- it was nice to have it on tap in Paris. And of course if you like wheat beers they have the Blanche de Bruxelles that is always refreshing. read more

This is your typical grungy bar--heavy metal music; darker than dim lighting; full bar; very cluttered with pictures and signs on the wall, drink bottle displayed along the wall; waiters look like they're part of Hell's Angels; and our water was served in an Absolute Vodka glass bottle lol. I got the crepe with Nutella, banana, whipped cream, and added on a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My niece for a crepe with Nutella inside and scoop of vanilla ice cream. My niece enjoyed her crepe--she's not a big fan of crepes but she thought it was tasty. I, on the other hand, thought it was average. I've had so many crepes over the years so this one just didn't hit the spot. Don't get me wrong, it tasted good but it wasn't the best I've ever had. The service was probably below average. Although we were seated right away and our crepes came about 5 minutes after ordering them, that's as far as our waiter's attentiveness (or lack thereof, I should say) went. Looking for a cozy pub to enjoy a beer with some friends? This place is it. Situated nearby several Montparnasse metro stops, Le Falstaff has become a favorite among me and my friends. They have an impressive selection of Belgium beers, with about ~15 beers on tap. All drinks are reasonably priced, and even cheaper during happy hour! I don't drink beer, but I've loved the Falstaff all the same: they have cider AND raspberry beer, both on tap! The real beer lovers around the table were on cloud nine with the selection too, so many thanks for the Falstaff for being one of the few bars around with good drinks :) And they don't push you out when you're done, which is really cool for such a popular place. Little downsides: - Service might be a little bit nicer - but they are incredibly efficient, so I guess that not smiling is part of the "I'm a real guy who lives for beer and hard rock" strategy - Bottled beer is too expensive: it's 9€ for an on-tap pint, almost the same price for most 25cL / 33cL bottles... I understand that some beers are pretty uncommon, but come on, guys. It's just water, some stuff and a bit of time. You should need a black Amex to drink it. read more

We stopped in this little pub to get out of the rain and had several draft beers waiting the rain out. Think there were about 12 Belgian beers on draft and an extensive bottle list. We also had some of the best mussels I've eaten, and coming from the Pacific Northwest I've enjoyed some pretty damn fine mussels. Really cozy pub atmosphere with a surprisingly attentive, for Paris, bartender. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy Paris's proximity to Belgium. read more

This place has been my home away from home in Paris over the past two years. Yeah, my French is terrible ("terrible" is a French word by the way), and I never know what I am ordering for food because the menus are not in English. But typically, I am never disappointed, because the food is always average (another French word). But in the land of Duck Liver (butter on steroids) and wine (California wine with far more pretention (ooh, another French word!), Le Falstaff is an oasis of Belgian beer. It is a dive bar with a certain, I don't know what (an American phrase for a French phrase I cannot spell). American music, a.k.a. musique American, is always on the Hi-Fi, from Soundgarden to Johnny Cash. It is an absolutely perfect place for an American to hang out: I feel equal levels of American pride and French condescension (more French language!!!) both at the same time. This was a lovely bar with some awesome selections for dinner. We got the curry mussels and Sav Blanc with this delicious salad! I really enjoyed it here. Good music, fun people and yummy food. It's a 4 star because the mussels were a bit gritty a think some sand didn't get cleaned out. But over all good. read more

This was my favorite bar/pub that I visited when I went to Paris. The bartenders were very friendly, we had a bit of a language problem in that I didn't speak any French and a couple of them had a hard time understanding me in English but they really went out of there way to get a good communication back and forth. I felt at home here and now I must comment on the reason I came to this bar in the first place; I was looking for a bar in Paris that had a lot of Belgian beers and Falstaff's had a great selection. This place is great. I go to school nearby and you can't beat the happy hour prices after a long day of classes. The moules frites are great and the burgers are also amazing but I mostly come here for the beer. They have a wide selection of things on tap as well as different spotlight beers depending on the week. Also, it's a great place to watch football (European, not American) when a game is on. read more

Tipping in France is loose coins as is included in bill. Fabulous local pub just down rue du montparnasse on right side coming from blvd du montparnasse. Local & excellent. We had coffee and crepes which were excellent, free wifi, a cool atmosphere with a great upstairs area for dining as well. Obviously named for the great drunk, and most prolific, Shakespearean character, the beer selection was out of this world. One of my go to bars. They have many different types of bottled beers for you to choose. Friendly and cozy atmosphere. I particularly enjoy their selection of Belgian beers, although it's kind of expense (sometimes 8 or 9 euros for a beer). I've never tried the food, but it does look good. People seem to enjoy their hamburgers. Will definitely have to try one of these days. read more

Great pub feel when you walk in, and ample seating (make sure to check upstairs, there's loads of room up there) Reasonable prices for a pint especially considering the quality of beer. The food is not what you come for, but it's also not bad at all. read more
