Great food, service could greatly improve, but we read about that in other reviews so knew what to…read moreexpect and so had a great night anyway ! The music was a little loud, and although I am a great supporter of live entertainment it would be better during the week when the restaurant isn't so full of people wanting to talk to each other. Really good menu with lots of choices. Drinks came quickly, they do a great Espresso Martini, which is not on the menu and the bartender was great and easier to grab than our waitress. Food took ages to come but we were catching up so didn't notice that much. Calamari was fantastic - big pieces and soft and tender with perfect seasoning and a wonderful rocket salad, that was excellent even on its own. I ordered the award winning pizza with mushrooms and truffle oil, which was a taste sensation, but the mushrooms and truffle oil were different and not prominent flavours, but a sensational pizza anyway. Their other pizzas also looked interesting, with sweet potato, regular potato and edible flowers, which I may come back to try. Someone else who had been before and had the Oso Bucco, ordered it again, it was so fabulously memorable from the last visit. I love Oso Bucco and it was delicious and tender with a couple of bones that really let you get into the marrow - it was served with a very flavourful potato mash and did not disappoint. I am a huge tiramisu fan, but this was the only disappointment of the night. Not the best tiramisu, but we were pretty full from everything else, and so didn't want to waste calories on something not that delicious. The manager, who was very Italian and very sweet, took the cost of the tiramisu off the check, which really is the right thing to do if you are sending most of it back, and certainly made up for the slow service too, so we left happy, satiated, and looking forward to coming back, and trying the Nutella calzone next time over the tiramisu next time.

I love this place. I've been here several times before, but not in a long while, and it's great to…read moresee that they've expanded (taken the store that was next door and made their interior much bigger). Today the service was impeccable, and the food also. I started with the Caprese Salad, and it was SO heavenly. It was beautifully presented and it was possibly one of the very best I've ever had anywhere. The mozzarella was massive and it was sitting in a pesto foam which was sooooo tasty. I had one piece of the garlic bread that others at the table ordered, and man, that was phenomenal. The best garlic bread I've tried ever. Then for the main course I had a Salmone Gnocchi (that was actually originally penne, but they kindly made changes) which was so good. Dessert (which I only ordered so I didn't feel left out as everyone else ordered ... ) was the crepes filled with vanilla ice cream in a mandarin liquor with mandarin segments. If you're wanting a beautiful meal out - be it lunch or dinner - you can't go past Botticelli. It is such a great experience and there's a lot to choose from on the menu and it's all reasonably priced for the quality. I very highly recommend it here.

It is with great sadness that I update my review, I have returned two or three times since my…read moreinitial review and have been left feeling more and more displeased until this last time was frankly the final straw for me. It was the weekend, we booked a table outside as it was a warm night and I had headache all day and just started feeling better. We arrived on time to find that we were not to be placed outside as we requested but inside as the outside table wasn't ready, ok sure no worries not a big deal right? You should have seen the table they put us at! Boteccils isn't a particularly large place, they probably have too many tables as it is plus they've cramped in a desert cabinet, so it's all a bit familiar in there, which is fine, you know that going in. But the table they put us on was beyond familiar. It was up close and personal. It was a joke. The table was a two seater at the very end next to the counter where everyone comes to pay, the desert display, the kitchen where waiters are to and fro and the the toilet entrance maybe 1.5 metres behind you. Oh and my elbow was on the roll of paper that replaces tables cloths. We literally had peoples let's be polite hips in our faces constantly plus we couldn't hear anything. Needless to say, I got very upset I told my friend I wanted to leave and he agreed. Of course the staff heard and moved us when they saw a couple leaving from up the front, still not outside mind you. They explained that it was their 'emergency table.' That table isn't fit to have meals served at, if nothing else it felt unsanitary, just tell people to go for a walk for 10 minutes- you're in Brighton! They spent the rest of the evening attempting to make it up to is, but failing. At one point we were so parched for water we were sharing glasses. I ordered a special of Duck Ravioli with sage and Merlot sauce. Seems to me, if you're using such decadent ingredients one should be able to taste them. Dried sage was use, the stems were hazardous. The sauce tasted like unbalanced Napoli Sauce, overly acidic. For desert I had a Tiramisu, I should add that I ended up eating the desert for Yelp reasons because I knew I wouldn't be back. It was the highlight of the evening but certainly not restaurant quality. I ordered a tomato juice that never came and my friend had a wine as part of the dinner special that never came, naturally throughout the awful service and commotion of the evening we forgot about these items, when we asked to have them removed from the bill we were met with a lecture and disdain. I used to really like this place, regardless of their constant over cooking, I'm incredibly disappointed. Their service has gone downhill and their attitude towards customers is abysmal.
