We stayed with our two adult daughters with a pull out couch and staff set up the living room bed in the evening for us, giving great attention to every detail; despite a "couch bed" everyone was super comfortable! The balcony with the small table and chairs was such a joy with the amazing views of the harbor, the street musicians, the ships coming and going, just an ideal setting! It is also right in the heart of this charming town; we walked from the hotel everywhere we wanted to go. The best, however, is that we contacted this hotel after we left asking them to look for 4 rings we left in the room and not only did they respond quickly, they found the rings!!! I've traveled the world over and have met many a barkeep. This refined gentleman makes the trip worthwhile as he oversees the bar area and pours a delicious drink- all the while making interesting and polite conversation with old world elegance. If you are looking for the slick modernism of a Four Seasons or a Mandarin Oriental, La Voile D'Or is not for you. But our older and charming room with views off the sea were just what made us very sorry to leave. Each day my wife and I tumbled out of bed and down to the stunning pool area where we were greeted by Muriel, Catharine and Isabel who reserved the best chaise lounges for us to gaze at the ocean, enjoy an impeccable lunch, and slip into the sea while ordering off of the refreshing cocktail menu. Such hospitality and service is a hallmark of this gorgeous jewel on the ocean and I hope I return at every opportunity. What a treat! Well I guess I'm the first on Yelp to review this place. A…read morefriend of mine booked this hotel throughout one of the travel sites. Terrible! It's an old hotel. Our room had a bathroom sink not working, no water. Some of the room's lights didn't work, the bed is like sleeping on the floor, the smell coming from pipes is disgusting. I wouldn't book that place at all, BUT having said that, the location is good, there's a bus stop just down the street as well as train station within walking distance. I may understand the French culture and that almost all places are old, but it doesn't look like anyone is investing any dime on this place. You can even see dirt/mold on bathroom tiles. I think an AirBnB will be much better. We didn't spend any time in this room other than waking up and going to bed, and I'll wake up earlier just to get out. Nice man at the reception which opens at 9am. But like I told my friend, if this is a "hotel" like, someone is not doing their job. The cleaning lady we saw in there or him not inspecting a room before renting it!

Views from our top floor harbor facing room were spectacular and lifetime memories. The room had a comfortable bed and large (by European standards) bathroom. Hotel offers option of an extra room charge for breakfast or to not have breakfast. I appreciated the option as we prefer to walk in the morning and find our own dining location. Staff was polite and helpful. I asked regarding nearby restaurants and they recommended two. One was a cafe across the street from the hotel entrance and the second a marina outdoor casual food stand. Both were excellent recommendations and we ate at both twice. The marina is good for lunch sitting at the water line and the cafe is excellent for evening dinner and wine. Also noteworthy is that staff did not mention the expensive restaurant nearby on the harbor. I could see why when I walked down to harbor restaurant and saw their exorbitant prices. Hotel de la Darse is an excellent hotel and good value!

This place is a good location in that it is central to the town and we we able to find parking…read morenearby. There was a large group of teenagers staying here which made sleep difficult. It was not the staff's problem however it may have contributed to their demeanor which was not always warm and friendly. There was allot of construction going on nearby. I assume since it's a little off season that this is the best time of year to get it done. So this could be more about the timing but in general I'd have to say we found the place to be "ok."
