A medieval themed place, with all the servers dressed as priests or peasants. It had a lot of locals, so it looked like a popular place. And they had a board game cabinet! After trying to use my French, we quickly changed to English, with no issues. (An English menu is easily available.) I ordered the "Macherroni and Cheese" with the pulled pork extra topping. The mac and cheese was rich and creamy, a good cheese flavour and not salty. Of course I loved the crunchy topping! The pulled pork was tender, no blobs of fat or cartilage, and just sweet enough. The broccoli salad came with onions and cranberries, and the dressing had a nice sweet and smoky taste. Finally, the red beer I got was a very good example of that kind of beer. I would visit here any time, and I would love to come with a group and spend an evening having drinks and nachos while playing some board games!

I am surprised there aren't more yelp reviews on this place. Go to google if you don't believe me…read moreas they have plenty of reviews. 5/5. Service was great. Very entertaining. Parking is street as they have like 3 spaces only. We had the alchemist platter. The seafood dish the kraken had good flavor but it had artificial crab meat in it and I am not a fan of fake substance. Our absolutely fav was the chicken confit. The platter was worth ordering to try a little bit of everything. They had a live musician that was very talented with playing instruments. I would definitely return here.

La Girolle. What a place to feast yourself. This spot in Quebec is where you come to congratulate…read morelife on food. La Girolle welcomes you with a vintage look and drags you in with one of the best services I have ever experienced in Canada. Then, a server will deliver an ode to the menu and recite each dish like a bard revealing the tales of the Chef and his staff. Deciding on what you will eat after the waiter's epic monologue becomes like a life decision. The Hurt Locker has nothing against this menu. The duck, the seafood, the crème brûlée. Wow. I do not believe in the line of judges where every single one pulls up a 10 after an Olympic performance. La Girolle is the exception. They are Olympians of food and service. J'ai hâte de trouver une excuse pour me rendre à Québec et célébrer quelque chose à cet endroit. C'est comme ouvrir une bouteille de champagne.

My Partner says "I would give them a six if they had one"…read more First of all. They are not kidding. Bring your own wine. No wine brought. You are drinking alcohol free beer with dinner. Which is fine for some. But don't want anyone disappointed. It is a traditional cuisine with a fantastic presentation. Truly. I am not a fan for all of the sauces. But you could help but eat every bite. There is a fixed price for starter and dinner. Then you can add a lm appetizer. I thought that displaced the starter. It did not. So. Be prepared. We walked back to Quebec City to walk off the calories. If you find me on the Appalachian trail in Maine. I might have broken even. Anyhow. We did the Foie grad creamer brûlée. Whoever invented that should be kissed and shot. (But not hurt. Don't want harm). Cause it is so freaking good. The fig parfait on the side was tasty. Would have preferred a different texture as it was close to the creme brûlée. But it all went together. Next was the chèvre Chaud. With diced fennel and apple. Loved this dish. Delicious. Had the lamb. It was very tasty. Again I am not a fan for the sauces. I gave it a five cause it was well prepared. The venison was actually slightly sweet and tasty. Opted out of dessert. Damn. I would be in Pennsylvania before I burned the calories.

Okay. Firstly, I'm Asian. Secondly, I eat so much Thai food wherever I go and coming from Toronto…read morethere is tons of Thai food. This restaurant is INSANELY AMAZING! We were going to drive to Quebec City but got tired and instead found this restaurant on Yelp. You HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE especially there PAD SEE EW!! It's so hard to get noodles the right texture and the flavour is INSANE!! Must must try! I wish this restaurant was in Toronto. Also. The prices are sooooo cheap considered the portions are huge! This is a gem!!

If I could give 4.5 I would. Let me rave first. The food is incredible, just go and don't ask any…read morequestions - just run there if possible before anything changes. The spring rolls are incredibly fresh and tasty. The soups were unbelievably tasty. The Tonkinese soup is a mini-pho and wonderfully flavorful. My wife ordered the pad see ew and raved about it's flavor; possibly the best she's ever had anywhere. I ordered the Pham Thai with chicken. Amazing, just amazing flavors. Now, the surprise. The amount you get served on a plate could easily feed 2 people; no joke. Now the only compliant. The wait. I honestly think another cook would take this place next level. I thought they focused too much on their to-go orders more than the customers seated and waiting for their food. Flavors = 12 out of 10. Service by wonderful wait staff = 10 out of 10. Time to plate the food for seated customers = 5 out of 10. When we visit Quebec from the U.S. again, we will come back for the incredible food and hopefully the plating time is fixed.

EdiBle :)) ++…read more Ambiance is charming, authentic, old and touristy. Old wooden snow shoes on the ceiling, sharpie written signatures on the old walls, window sills etc. with shutter style windows that open to rue St. Louie. It was full and had a line out the door. +++. Food is Canadian. I had their version of shepherds pie and it was the best one I've had in 3 decades including those I've tried in England, Scotland and Ireland!! Well balanced combination and smooth mash potatoes. Their homemade ketchup is amazeBallS! It does NOT look like Heinz by the way. I tried to buy some at their store next door but were out of it :/. Idk about their other dishes but I would eat their shepherds pie every week! +++ Service is friendly prompt and well informed staff. +++. Price was very fair for the best shepherds pie eVa! - Forget about parking. This is a pedestrian friendly old Quebec. All the oddities add character bc their food is good. To put that in perspective, you can get a 14 oz steak for $70 at the fancy steak joint nearby. Come here for the vibe, the $5 hand made taffy roll (that you can get for $3 in the corner store) but watch out for the waiter's upsell recommendations. If you bring the kids, may be the kids plats is the way to go as you get the Taffy included.
