We had arrive at the museum just before 11 a.m. and spent an hour or so touring the initial exhibits. By just after noon, we opted to take a break for lunch. This restaurant is adjacent to the museum, just across a small lawn/access road. On the main level where you enter, the table-service restaurant is to your right. There appeared to be a smaller cafe on the left, but my impression was that their menu / service was more limited.
We were able to get seated in the main restaurant. However, within 30 minutes they had filled up (some larger parties arrived; I'm not sure how normal that is for a weekday) and they put out signs that said they could not accommodate additional customer for over 90 minutes! So, you may want to dine early to avoid getting locked out.
As for our lunch, it was good. They had a decent variety of options - pasta and various meat dishes, plus salads. They seemed to have a full bar as well. I ended up getting the pasta, which was tasty. Prices seemed slightly high, but not out of line with an on-site restaurant at a significant tourist venue. Service was good.
There did appear to be at least one other dining option in the area. We noted some small Japanese place on the main road near where the bus let us out. It is only a 5-minute walk. However, I don't know what their hours of operation are, etc. There may be other restaurants as well, but we didn't seek them out. For sheer convenience (as long as they have tables), this was the best option, though. read more
