I have never EVER written a review of a business, but Le Bakery is worth writing about. I've had two experiences in three months that lead me to this review. In both experiences I would have sworn I was on a secret camera show with the strange and poor customer service.
April - I was there with a group of women for an after birthday dessert. The cake was ordered and we arrived with the plan to eat it there at the small table, which the staff knew in advance. We arrived there with wine and plates, as planned. We were all in a great mood and tried to engage the woman behind the counter, but she didn't want any part of it, didn't say anything at all except to ask for a name (to identify the cake). We got the cake, sat around the table, and realized we needed a knive to cut the cake. When my girlfriend asked to borrow a knife, she was told there is no knive. Surely, being a BAKERY, there was some sort of knife in the back. My friend assured her that we'd only need it for about a minute, would cut everyone a piece, and give it back. She also said that if it was a measure of safety, one of the staff certainly could cut it, and we'd appreciate it. We were again told they do not have a knife and the gal walked into the back, we thought to get something to cut the cake. Nope, she didn't come out again the whole time were were there, until a customer walked in just as we were leaving.
July 7 - I was in the bakery and found the perfect small round cake for my husband's birthday. I was the only person there and the woman behind the counter didn't say anything when I walked in. I said hello to the woman behind the counter, and she either didn't hear me or did hear me and didn't answer me. I pointed out which bday cake I'd like and asked if they could please write "happy birthday Phil" on it. I was told the decorators "aren't writing today," with no further explanation. Thinking the woman wasn't certain what I was asking for I happily clarified what I wanted...to buy the bday cake and them write on it. I complimented that they do it so beautifully and said I'm sure will take less than one minute. I was told, with a shrug, that the decorators are "just really busy." That was it, nothing else was said, the woman then turned around to put rolls into a bag. Had there been one ounce of apology, explanation, or even normal human interaction, I would have completly understood and I wouldn't be writing this. It was all just surreal. I walked out, went to Kroger, and got a beautiful round cake on which the lovely woman in the bakery wrote "happy birthday Phil" in about 35 seconds. Suffice it to say, our family will not ever return to Le Bakery. read more
