All those foreign beers are nice and cold and our local ones are piss warm. Have seen some serious theft in here, expensive bottles being boosted in plain sight and the staff do not say or do anything. Ridiculous. And the gravelly voiced homeless man at the front door is not a great look.

In the traditional old style Beer Store, you would look at the different beers and beverages on the wall and then order at the counter. Your selected beer would magically arrive via roller track and you would have to grab it. Now its a lot more user friendly, what was now a behind the scenes operation is now a hands on one. You return your empties in a specific area now and to purchase beer and beverages you enter the "Beer Fridge" area. Here you can access and see all your favorite beers and brews all in a temperature controlled area. Boxes of 24's 12's 6's and even singles are available. This particular Beer Store has an awesome selection of craft beers. They even had my new favorite "Goose Island" (not found in very many stores). The staff are helpful and will help you locate that specific item your looking for. A welcome addition to the neighborhood....4 stars!

The old space may look familiar since the space used to be where Beatrice Society was. Consisting of 2 floors, Sobr Market has a wide variety of non-alcoholic options (including de-alcoholized wines, flavoured sodas, etc.) that recently opened in late April. I stopped by Sobr Market the day they opened to the public and was amazed at the great selection they have. The only thing is that...who would have thought...that non-alcoholic options can get quite pricey. I did see some brands I am familiar with but there were many other brands to try as well. Staff were attentive and friendly during my visit, asking if I needed any assistance or help. I did purchase a few cans of de-alcoholized wine and some sparkling water as well. Good option for those who are trying to cut down alcohol or don't try at all!

Because that means when I want to try one or two things, there are stores like this that I can walk through. It's clean and well organized and all the staff are friendly. Surprisingly even during the day there are quite a few staff on the floor so you never have to go searching for help. It is a bit smaller than other LCBOs but it had everything you need for a great evening...or a great afternoon (who am I to judge when you start drinking...it's 5pm somewhere!)

The other Saturday, I walked in and a woman offered me a sample sip of some craft beer from Sarnia. It was amazing. I immediately got a bottle for $6.50. I am more a coconut rum and Coke girl. I have plenty of rum at home. So, I often come here for either a wine with fruity notes or beer. The cider beverages intrigued me. I tried the pear and spiced rum varieties. The pear cider was excellent. I have yet to try the spiced rum. Don't forget to use your Air Miles card to collect points here. As usual, you get all your booze in paper bags. (230)

But putting those factors aside, the staff are super pleasant & professional, and always helpful. But back to the building its self, the beer store renovated the facade, replacing what was once two doors, one entrance one exit with a gigantic sliding door, which does alleviate the congestion at the entrance when pensioners form a line to return bottles to pay bills. But the store it's self can still be a bit congested, add on top of this that the parking lot serves the bakery, a pharmacy and the beer store it's self which can make for a tight squeeze when people are parked on both sides of the driving area( however if you enter from symington there is an alley that is directly behind the stores, Thur will take you to a much larger parking area beside the Portuguese bakery that has ample parking.

They seem to know what is in season and when they're going to get certain drinks. and even if they're just humouring you when they make suggestions on what you must like it always seems to work at at the end. There's a great selection of beers, and a huge selection of already chilled products so you're good to go from the beginning. If you're looking for a super rare wines, this probably isn't the place for you, however it is a fantastic LCBO for just about everything else. And there's a huge parking lot, so that always helps.
