As we quickly attempted to apologize for our mistake he continued to mistreat us and speak with such hostility that we insisted we would leave because how dare he speak to us like that! It was an honest mistake on our part which we tried to apologize for but he insisted 'how dare we seat ourselves'. Our son-in-law is a Chef, one town over and he was appalled at how we were treated. We understood immediately we had made a mistake but to be spoken to with such ignorance and malice was uncalled for. He was just rude so we happily left and took our patronage over to Eze. This Person/Maitre di was Ignorant, Arrogant and had no class at all. We will be sure to tell anyone and everyone else we know not to go here, including those our son-in-law and daughter know as well since they are locals!!

My mother and I split a fresh and in every way delightful salad niçoise and my dad had the steak tartar. It was a steak tartar which he referred back to for the entire trip, the one that every following tartar was held up against and failed to compare to. The baguette basket they brought with the food was very precious. Springy, soft and crusty pieces of freshly baked baguette. Probably from the amazing boulangerie across the street. We grew quite fond of our waiter through the course of the meal. A jovial and friendly redhead. At the end of the meal, he helped us understand how to tip in Europe, and explained it in a completely unbiased manner.

They have quite a wine selection and we selected a nice Rose. we started with the Poichichade à l'huile de basilic (Riviera Style hummus) and Gambas en tempura, yaourt aux poivrons (king prawns). Both were delicious but I really enjoyed the prawns. They were huge and crunchy. I had the Dauradeen filet, poireau rôti au feu de bois, câpres et citron (sea brim) as my entree. The fish was fresh and the sauce perfectly complimented the dish. My husband enjoyed Poulpe rôti,tomate à la niçoise, eau de tomate épicée (roasted octopus). It was not a combination he had ever tried and really enjoyed it. When you walk to your seat you will pass a large case full of beautiful desserts. While I do love all those beaches for different reasons, and really if you're hanging at the beach, life is still pretty good no matter which one you choose to chill at, La Mala is a cut above the rest. Definitely geared towards a younger high society crowd, the vibe is still amazing. However one downfall is that there isn't sand. It's rocks. So plan on bringing your water shoes. The presentation was nice and the fruit was refreshing under the hot sun. Actually this is the only dish I got a pic of. We continued drinking and enjoying the beach but there wasnt much of an atmosphere, no music :/ we wanted to get a couples massage but they only had one masseuse but I would like to note that she was the nicest person working at that establishment and so she deserves a mention. We ended up spending around $250 and wouldve spent much more if the service and atmosphere were good. At the end of our visit the server said oh theres no pin to your card I can just charge it to $500 yeah and I just laughed nervously because I was uncomfortable. Like we get it your a private beach club but ive been to private beach clubs around the world and this is one of the less desirable ones ive been to. Its tacky to bring up money so much. Don't have to dress special, it's at the beach and pier so it's relaxed. I ordered a burger and a beer and loved it so much, the second time I came back I ordered the same. They have Italian items on the menu and French as well but damn that burger I really liked it that much. Funny thing is I like to try variety of things but serious I like their burger that much. The caramelized onions have to be one good thing as well as the meat quality. I'll get it again next time.... Beer cold, Aperol spritz was made very well as well. They serve you olive spread with biscuits before ordering which is a nice touch. Great place and I will definitely go back.

I had a simple chicken club sandwich which was well executed with toasted bread, fresh lettuce and tomato and nicely grilled chicken breast. The 2 bottles of Provence Rosé on a beautiful Mediterranean afternoon certainly didn't hurt either. Our lunch party all seemed to enjoy their food though we were all hungry after several hours on the beach. The only negative experience was a couple of tables of smokers which is not unusual in France, though. After reading some of these other reviews I'm just glad we were lucky to have a good overall experience.
