Came here a couple weeks back to pick some bing cherries. When we arrived, there were staffs at the parking lot area guiding cars where to park. At the front (area between the house/beautiful lawn and the horse stable) was a table with instruction and another staff teaching us how to pick the cherries/instructions/what to look for/giving us bags. Not sure how tall cherry trees usually are, but the trees here were perfect for my height. I'm short, and I didn't have to reach far at all to pick the cherries. Kids probably wont have problem picking their own cherries here either. Be careful walking around though. Don't forget to look down, because I almost stepped on a garden snake. He was harmless and he froze for a while because I spooked him out. A bit expensive...but it's reasonable market price. Definitely worth checking out if you want to pick some bing cherries next season. They have sinks (outside the restrooms) for you to wash your cherries and picnic on the lawn area. read more

Visited this place on Fourth of July (glad that they were open on a holiday). The entrance to the place is nice. They have a welcoming front yard and barn (with some horses, goats, and a cat). However, in the actual cherry-picking area, there are a lot of overgrown weeds making it difficult to navigate through, especially if you have young (or elderly) ones with you. We weren't able to find a single tree that had firm, juicy cherries. After about an hour, we only found small, soft cherries that were semi-sweet. Bonus - they have "real" restrooms with running water rather than porta-potties. read more

I went with my friend's kids that are elementary age. We got there a little after 10:00am after they opened. Parking is plentiful, but dusty. Did not have to wear masks. There is bathrooms for people to use, but we didn't use it. However upon arrival, they cleaned the bathroom in the morning. There are rules to read prior to entering the orchard. Pretty much, don't eat the cherries before paying and don't break branches. There's a certain way of picking cherries too and I appreciate their visuals. It was pretty slim pickings since we are kind of late in the season. We had to go to the cherry trees that are farther from the entrance of the orchard. We found good cherries surprisingly. They provided clear plastic bags to collect our cherries in. You may pay with cash or card. There are animals to view, but no petting or feeding. There is a chicken coop along the trail adjacent to the house, a horse in the barn, goats, and a cat that walks around. Paid by card. Lazy K is located in Gilroy and offers a lot of parking. I went on a holiday weekend on Saturday after lunch and it wasn't that crowded. It was easy to park, get a bag to hold cherries from the staff, and pick cherries. My family and I had a great time picking cherries here. The cherries were so sweet! Twist and it will come off easy Don't tear the nodules or whatever scientific you call them because that is where the next fruit will come from next year. Go to the left back of the orchard for the cherries because the front has already been picked over. Look for deep red and not red which will need to ripen on the tree still. Enjoy and have fun. Wonderful alternative to Brentwood as it's closer to the South Bay. Plus it's organic and they have Bings! Bings are *very* hard to find at u-picks, and they're the best tasting dark cherries. Most places in Brentwood specialize in Coral Champagne, Rainier, and sometimes Brooks. Brooks tastes the 2nd best for dark cherries. There's also a lot of Van cherries...these taste good, keep fresh longer, and stay firm. You can tell Vans by the shape as they're a little more pointy at the bottom. Also, Bings are more prone to occasional cracking the bottom of the fruit. Trees are not that tall, so we didn't need to use ladders. Make sure you bring a hat as the shade isn't that big. Bathrooms are way better than the "port-a-potties" commonly used in Brentwood. Beautiful lawn and gazebo in front as well. Cherries are more expensive than Brentwood but are organic and you're getting Bings! We went here twice this season. Looking forward to next year! read more

Another Gilroy gem!! Came here on a random with a group of my mommy friends and all of our kiddos. Totally unplanned and unprepared but we had such an awesome time! Probably the best cherry picking experience I've ever had. This place has plenty of parking and close to entrance. Right when you drive up you can already see how beautiful the grounds are. So charming and inviting. They have a barn, with horses, sheep, chickens. Lots of photo ops for sure! Your welcome to bring your own bucket but since we were so unprepared they do have free plastic bags right in the front. They have you read the ground rules which is reasonable and how they keep everything looking and staying beautiful. Luckily I have my kids travel with their hydro flasks and keep their hats in the car. You'll need it. But if you don't they sell cold water bottles for $1. The owners are super nice and welcoming. Cherries are $5.50 per pound. I'm sure at the time I went, cherry picking season has already started but we found plenty of gorgeous ripe cherries hanging from the trees and as you wander further into this orchard you'll find more and more. Second year in a row that we have gone here for U-pick cherries. This year they tasted better than last, but maybe it was because I was waiting all year to go back! No reservation system this year, which made planning super easy. We went early because I knew they go fast. Lots of cherries are there if you go the first weekend or two that they are open. It is a little overgrown in between, as one reviewer pointed out and so you have to be careful where you step. Prices are on the higher side, they raised them this year, but I felt it was still worth it. My advice, just be selective as to what you pick to discourage waste and to make sure you pick what you actually want. Being organic, you do need to look carefully at what you pick to make sure nothing else has "picked" it before you. I love the fact that you can picnic there on their front lawn. Toilets are available, not port a potties, which is a plus. Tip: bring a bucket to put your cherries in and have them weigh it before you pick. It's easier to carry/put down than a bag. You can get food grade ones at the hardware store. Just be conscious of how much you pick, it's easy to get carried away! read more

I was trying to find some answers to some questions I had so I tried to call them, but it went to voicemail. I then saw they were active on FB messenger. So, I decided to message them my questions. They responded answering my question but then followed up in such a bizarre way asking me why I even tried to call because they get thousands of calls and that I need to just look on their website. This was our first time cherry picking boy it was a good experience. The cherries are juicy and sweet like sugar irrespective of their color shades or size. Our toddler was one of our official cherry sampler . We intend to get 2 pounds but they the cherries was so juicy and nice we ended up buying 10 pounds like a while bucket full of cherries we couldn't stop picking it. 4.5 Stars This is a great place to take kids and family for a great cherry picking experience. I have four kids all under the age of 6 and they absolutely loved it. My wife and I enjoyed our time here together as well. The pricing is $5/lb and they provide clean buckets for customers. THe owners are very friendly and helpful. They will tell you where to go to get fresh cherries. The only negative thing I can say about this place is that their parking lot is extremely dusty as its entirety is dirt. As other cars drive by, so much dust is kicked up into the air and you and your family will get smothered in dust/dirt. We just went for Father's Day to pick cherries. We decided on this place because people said the trees were shorter and easier to pick from plus no parking fee or entrance fee. We arrived LATE, around 4pm. I was afraid the trees would be bare but there were LOTS of cherries! We had so much fun picking cherries and wandering around the orchard that our 3-year old daughter didn't want to leave even though we stayed past closing. We ended up buying over 14 pounds (we split them with friends and family in town for a cousin's graduation). The staff was friendly and there were plenty of buckets to use. But we went late in the day so if you go, be prepared with your own bag/bucket just in case they run out. Trees are short enough to reach most of the cherries. If you have time to check it out next weekend, there will be LOTS to pick! Plenty of not-yet-ripe-enough cherries when we were there. The cherries are $5 a pound but worth it as they are SWEET and plump! Look for the older trees that have the bigger cherries. And don't be afraid of the wrinkly, dried up cherries. They are so sweet that it hurts your throat when you eat them. They're like raisins but better! Clean bathroom facilities and fair practices when weighing (none of that weighing with the bucket we saw posted on Yelp about other places). They accept credit cards and cash. Also nice green spot to have a picnic outside of the orchard. This U-Pick only opens if there's a good crop so swing on by this year if you get a chance. This is our first u-pick and went there for just an experience. With our 4 month old baby, I was initially afraid of how it goes, so we decided to just pick a lb or two cherries and head back home soon. However, we found the ranch so welcoming with a very less crowd on Friday evening. The cherries are so delicious and yummy, we could not resist and ended up buying more than 6 lbs. Our baby enjoyed the environment and we also rested at the nice picnic area. There are SO MANY cherries on each tree and there are so many trees. People there are so helpful and they are weighing the cherries without bucket. Most of the trees have cherries so down, kids can easily pick them. read more

My friends and I had a blast picking cherries at Lazy K Ranch on Sunday! I've never gone cherry picking before so I wasn't sure what to expect. The people there were very polite and there was ample parking along the streets near the ranch. We ended up parking along a dirt road. We also loved petting the horses and looking at the goats. Things to bring if you decide to go cherry picking: 1. A container for your cherries. They provide buckets and paper bags, but we brought a grocery tote and a basket. If you're going with a group like we did, gallon size ziplock bags to divide your bounty. 2. Sunscreen and a hat, because we were out in the sun for at least an hour. 3.Wear comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. You will be walking through dirt and lots of hay and rocks. The two of us that wore sandals were tip toe-ing around stuff. The girls that wore shoes complained because they were covered in a layer of dust by the end. Don't wear white canvas shoes! We parked on a dirt road nearby, so it was a lot of walking through dirt. 4. If you want to picnic on the grounds, bring a blanket! I saw families hanging out under some of the cherry trees. 5. Baby wipes to wipe down your hands/legs/feet when you're done. We were pretty dusty by the time we got back to the car. read more

My family had a blast yesterday! They have so many berry trees, and the cherries are soooooooo yummy! We picked about 20 lbs, gave the majority away (including a fund raising event), and not a single one left by now! I had them for breakfast, for lunch, and for dinner! Anyway, they opened for business the first day ever yesterday. Super super super nice family! Brought out carrots for my girls to feed the horses. So if you go, Kathy said yes when I asked if we can bring some apple and carrots to feed them next time, and suggested that we cut them small so it's easier for Crystal (white horse) and Copenhagen(brown horse). There was also a little goat that hangs out with horses (I first thought it was a little pony!). There were three chickens too. Big green meadow, shady place for picnic lunch? (We didn't eat there or play on the grass so don't know.) There's bath room on site (again we didn't use). Again, Kathy and her family were so supper super nice that I feel like I owe them and the least I can do is a good review. We fell in love with Crystal and Copenhagen too. We'll definitely go back sometime very soon! BTW, their cherries are pesticide free! $2.5/lb or $2.0 if it's over 50 lbs. Check their website for hour before you go. Cherries are 5 star - pick the dark ones in the trees further in, in the ranch Service/Attitude - 1 star. This is a family owned farm that they open up for public. Cherries were $5/lb, which is fine. The restrooms were out of order, i checked with the kids at the counter if there were any other, the younger kid was about the answer, the older kid kind off told him don't tell where additional restrooms are - by way of body language which was obvious. there were many kids and toddlers who needed that but they didn't tell us where they were. the farm area is not really maintained, lot of dry grass around and lots of weeds, so not exactly a fun experience. they have some taller trees but no ladders.. they have a good garden area where you can keep your garden mat and eat. \ \ read more
