Avoid the Grumpy Gecko!
Older guy serving us was VERY rude. He acted as if we were a nuisance for asking about gluten free options, or actually even being there! We found a seat outside, and my friend had to go in and politely ask him to come and take our order. He just shook his head and pretty much ignored her!
When he did came out to take our order he said they were very busy, as if this explained his stroppiness. He was belittling and offensive again when we checked if the burger could be gluten free, and he said anything on the menu was gluten free, so we specifically asked if they had gluten free burger buns to which he replied, very impatiently, no. WTF? They only had gluten free bread, no paninis, nothing else, so actually he was completely wrong to say anything on the menu would be okay.
We pointed out that it was not our fault they were so busy, that we were customers, and we needed certain information before placing our order. He was slighly nicer after this (although who knows what they did to our food before we received it!)
When the peppermint tea came out and turned out to be breakfast tea, he told my friend she was wrong! When it came back as the right tea with peppermint on the tag, there was no apology.
The food we received was tasty (although the gluten free toasted sandwich dry as the ends of the bread were used) but in small portions, and only a small spoonful of coleslaw. It didn't say on the menu it was a token amount of coleslaw so it was a shame not to receive a decent serving.
The lovely women on the next table waited 50 minutes for her order to come out, and after chasing it up, eventually had to go back in and cancel (other people after her had already received their orders). When the grumpy man came out he said he had just given her order to someone else! Why be so rude and offensive? She had originally been told it would be 20 minutes - surely 50 minutes for a sandwich is ridiculous, especially with no apology.
The customer service from this particular man was apalling, and we would never go back there again because of him. I would like the management to take this seriously and send him on stress management and customer care courses, and teach the staff how to take responsibility for their mistakes and apologise, intead of blaming the customers. read more
