The food was good, service was pleasant -- until the cafe got busy. That's when the experience soured. After finishing our meal, we were leisurely enjoying the last sips of our coffee, preparing to pay and leave. But instead of being allowed to finish on our own terms, we were asked -- quite bluntly -- to shuffle down across a table to make room for more customers. It was awkward, unnecessary, and frankly, made us feel like cattle being herded to optimise their table turnover. In all my years of dining, brunching, and travelling across multiple countries, I've never encountered a request like that in any cafe or restaurant. It completely undercut what was an otherwise good experience and left us with a bitter aftertaste -- quite literally and figuratively. To top it off, staff seemed to disappear when it came time to address the issue, save for one person who eventually surfaced to take some feedback. But by then, the damage was done. Sadly, I won't be returning. If the priority is quantity over quality of experience, I'd rather spend my time and money elsewhere.

I highly recommend the Twice-Cooked Sleeper Chips. They're fantastic! My husband had a cappuccino and he gave it a thumbs up (I don't drink coffee so you'll have to take his word for it). We also got some carrot cake and a piece of Millionaire's Shortbread to-go. We ate them later that afternoon and again: delicious! I suggest going and maybe trying something more interesting than the egg mayo baguette I ordered. While very tasty, they've got loads of other delicious sounding dishes on the menu such as gourmet burgers, free range omelettes and full English breakfasts. My whole family is coming over next year to visit the UK and my husband and I soundly decided that we will be bringing them out to the Station House so they can enjoy a truly English dining experience out in the very picturesque New Forest.

I selected the Small Farmhouse breakfast which consisted of sausage, bacon, egg, hash brown, mushrooms, baked beans and a slice of toast with butter and jam. My husband selected the Farmhouse breakfast which had the same ingredients but twice as much. Of special note are the sausages which were very meaty and that the breakfast was cooked to perfection with none of the grease that can often be present. They also serve a full range of hot drinks so I was able to select a decaf latte. The menu includes some sandwich-type options and there were a few scones etc. for those who don't have our appetites. Service was fast for us. We arrived soon after they opened so only about 4 tables were already filled, so I cannot speak to service speed when they are busy, but they looked to have plenty of staff on duty.
