At Christmas they saved me quite a lot of money by telling me I hadn't missed the last post date for second class. This is the branch I use for my foreign currency, unusually currencies need to be ordered in but I would rather use this mall branch than a larger busy one. The car park out the back has been changed to 2 hour disk parking which seems to have solved the problem of having to wait ages to find a space.

When time is not of the essence I would rather travel to Thornaby or Yarm post office, where the ladies are helpful and friendly and not ready to snap if asked for proof of postage. Ingleby post office have twice sent me to Thornaby because my parcels were too large to fit through their window. Twice I was told that Thornaby "has a bigger window to take large parcels". In fact Thornaby's window is the same size as Ingleby's, but the manager said he welcomes Ingleby's business and their policy is to open the door to take parcels in. He added that his post office happily welcomes Ingleby's growing ebay business community and that nothing is too much work for his staff. Perhaps the staff at Ingleby Barwick post office would benefit from a course in customer service and business etiquette?

Old review: Brotton Post Office is on the high street so it's very easy to get to and has a post box outside for when it's not open. There's a ramp inside so it's easily accessable. It can get quite busy sometimes but you never have to queue for long. They sell birthday cards, wrapping paper, envelopes, small toys and a few other bits & bobs as well as the usual post office stuff. The staff are REALLY nice and will do all they can to help you: they're even happy to help 'difficult' customers (like me!) who post over 10 parcels at once (e.g. at Christmas and when selling on eBay). If you do have a lot of parcels to be weighed then they're happy for you to leave them there then go back later to pay for them all. I couldn't wish for a better local post office!

It is only quite a small building but it oozes charm. It sells magazines and papers, alternatively you could have them delivered to your door. They sell sweets from jars and lots of delightful locally produced items such as cakes, jams, chutneys. They also have some really tasty meats which they carve off the bone for you, whether you want a lot or just one slice for a sandwich, nothing is too much trouble. The post office part itself is just one counter but you can do most things that you need to do urgently, pay your bills and post your letters. Really welcoming.
