We had to fill out a credit check form for the rental program. They presented us with both a used and new violin option with reasonable pricing for renting and insurance. Their program is great where we can rent-to-own if we decide later to purchase it. All the rental payments are put towards the purchase which is awesome. They also allow you to switch it out if our child outgrows the size. It was a super easy process to pick up a rental instrument and seems like the store has quite the variety of supplies for both wind and string instruments.

All of the suggestions The guy had for me as a new guitar player were perfect. He recommended me a good book to start with. How to properly hold a guitar, etc.. I know things are cheaper on the Internet, and the two things that he recommended to me were definitely cheaper, however, you can't get this type of service from Amazon .

He's now playing Principal in the San Jose Youth Symphony and needs something more than the student/chamber model that has served him well these past 4 years. We planned a visit during ski week to see what Silver and Brass might have in stock, and were almost overwhelmed by the supply of instruments to try. I think he actually played about a dozen mid-to-pro instruments, including two Conn 8Ds, Holton 179 and 281, Alexander, Knopf instruments and a Yamaha. All were in shiny like-new condition, and frankly priced to compete with eBay, at a quality that most online sales can't touch. We ended up selecting a truly one-of-a-kind instrument though, a custom, built by Lindsey around a DRGM 8242 Tandem change valves. The lead pipe and bell flare are from a Conn 8D, though the main valve group is from a smaller bore (.480") instrument. It is the most amazingly smooth-playing horn we've ever encountered, based in the original double-horn design that was abandoned in the early-20th century because the original manufacturer couldn't get it right. Simply put, Lindsey got it. The only thing comparable today is the Paxman Merewether. The basic idea is that the usual Bb to F change valve is split into two (3 tubes each), corresponding to the 3 main valves), so that the sides are separated until they come together at the valves. The benefit is that the airstream always goes through the main valves in the same direction. That is, with all other horns, the airstream from the Bb and F sides go through in opposite directions. The result is less turbulence, and a *much* more responsive instrument. It's worth mentioning too that even this description just begins to scratch the surface of what this shop is capable of. They have almost 100 French horns in stock in various states of repair and refurbishment. They can literally build anything you'd want. We benefited hugely from their encyclopedic knowledge of each instrument we tried, and are proud to have made some new friends in the process. Our granddaughter is learning to play and we thought it would be best to have it tuned. David was very accommodating and punctual on his arrival. After tuning the piano, he identified several issues with this over 150 year old instrument. It had been rebuilt in 1977 with a few shortcomings. David worked on it during the time he was here and corrected some items. We knew that the keyboard had a few sticky keys, and David agreed. He ended up taking it back to his shop and correcting it. After returning the repaired keyboard, he spent more time correcting some other issues. It now sounds great!! Through the entire process, David was awesome. He explained what he was doing and how it affected the performance. I would hire him back for any piano work. All of this for a very reasonable price.

He showed up with a gruff attitude…read more When he got inside he plopped down on my piano bench and started bashing the keys as hard as he could (almost as if he was trying to break something). He spent the majority of his time inside my house going off on political rants (which i ignored and tried to stay polite). One year later I needed it tuned again and told my wife I wanted to give him a second chance because everyone has an off day and deserves a chance to redeem themselves...this was a huge mistake. This time he showed up and seemed to have an even worse attitude (like i was bothering him by hiring him). He got inside and slammed down on my bench once again this time tilting forward on it and cracking one of the legs. Then he went on several political tantrums and made two different racist comments to my wife. I would rather never have either of pianos tuned again than to let this man set foot inside my house again let alone give him another penny. i wish i could give this person zero stars.
