I hope the management of this parking lot reads this, because something very, very wrong is going…read moreon under your nose, right here at 66-70 Asylum Street. We pulled into the lot on a busy Thursday night and were met by an attendant standing in front of the gate. He asked for $15 and when we handed him a $20, he asked if we really wanted change because he didn't have any. When we said we sure as hell wanted that $5 change, we ended up looking through our wallets and did come up with that $15 in exact change. He gave us a white parking ticket and into the lot we went. There were no "legal" spots left and we were directed to park in an aisle. As we left the car we were hoping it would be undamaged by someone navigating what was now a much tighter corner than usual. At our Yelp event across the street, we found out that our experience with the shady lot attendant was not unique, he had pulled that scam on many more customers. Driving out at the end of the night, we were met by a different attendant who asked us to put our ticket into the machine to see what we owed. We said we had already paid and showed this guy our white ticket. He asked where was the "Pink Ticket", which apparently is your payment receipt when the lot is manned by other folks (presumably more honest) on other days. We told him we didn't get a pink ticket, and he just shook his head, opened the gate and let us out. The line of cars in front of us waiting to get out of the lot told us that our conversation with attendant #2 had been repeated many times for all of the cars in front of us. So you tell me what's going on here, because I sure as hell can't. But I definitely smell the odor of something rotten, like a barrelful of fish heads stewing in the sun.

In my experience with Propark yesterday (building on many, many other interactions with these…read morefolks), the level of rudeness and incompetency is staggering. I love attending events at The Society Room and do so on a fairly regular basis. Last night, I hosted a large party where Propark was supposed to issue discounted parking for guests - $6 instead of the standard $10 evening rate (as the lot is adjacent to the venue). Not only were my guests coming in full of confusion after the parking guys told everyone they'd be getting their parking validated (not the case), but they were incredibly rude to me once I tried to nicely address it. I literally walked out from my own event (in heels) and was given a combination of blank stares and bad attitudes instead of any kind of feasible explanation. Not to mention the fact that when I turned and walked away to return to the gala, one of the guys scoffed "nice dress." Also, the lot is cash only - archaic much?

Last night my husband and I parked in the Morgan Street Parking lot next to the G Fox building to…read morecelebrate a wedding for our cousin. We walked out of the wedding having a nice night and to our surprise, our car was missing! We called the Police Department and found out our car had been towed by CT Auto & Towing LLC. We were told it had been towed because we parked in a handicap accessible spot. If you look at the photo I posted, we were not parked in the spot that clearly has an above ground sign. We were parked in the end corner spot which DOES NOT have the above ground sign as required by Connecticut General Statutes, Sec. 14-253a(h) - (https://www.enfield-ct.gov/DocumentCenter/View/277/Handicapped-Parking-PDF?bidId=). Apparently there was a handicap print on the pavement, but it is barely visible because it is so worn and the lighting in the parking lot is not great. I specifically picked this spot because it was the only area of the parking light with good light, which is important in such a dangerous city as Hartford, and yet I still didn't see the print on the pavement!!! Why would a parking lot have one spot with an above ground sign and another without this?! Is it because they are in cahoots with the local towing companies??? Seems like it to me! My second photo shows blue dots that represent cars towed in the last 30 days. 930 cars times $180=$167,400 in one month.   What a shame for Hartford and the G Fox building. No wonder why no one wants to go downtown anymore....
