It took a few years and an addition to our family for our schedules to match up, but she did another wonderful job with our holiday/first birthday photos of our new little family of three. I was going to let this go, but I can't. Our wedding was 6 months ago. I'm finally going through…read moreour photos to print some for the house, and am reminded of how horrible of an experience it was paying Brooke Aliceon to shoot our wedding. Actually, Brooke didn't even show up to our wedding, nor our engagement session. 30 minutes before our wedding...she had her HUSBAND call my wife and tell her that she had covid, and would not be making the wedding and only her husband would be taking photos. What are the odds that after you drove over 100 miles from San Diego...that while you're taking a Covid test while you're driving that it comes up positive 30 minutes before your wedding shoot, crazy right!? Her husband is a very nice guy, but is not a wedding photographer, he's a backup/2nd photographer and it showed. I'm a photographer and my grandmother is a wedding photographer and has shot 200+ weddings. We had to coach him the entire time on how to position us, which locations were better for lighting and background etc. All of our indoor photos are TERRIBLE because her husband brought one on camera flash for a huge room. Anyone who's been to a wedding knows that "professional" photographers have several flashes around the room to light the room better and minimize shadows. Our indoor photos literally look like someone used a phone and a flashlight. Brooke also didn't show up to our engagement session and sent her husband once again. Her communication through the whole process was horrible. She rarely returned voicemails or texts, so my wife had to email...and even then it would take a week or two to respond. My wife was nervous the whole process because of how unprofessional Brooke was about responding to questions and not making our engagement session. I kept reassuring her that everything would be ok and so did Brooke. Then Brooke didn't show up to the wedding, never said she was sorry and took the maximum amount of time to edit our photos. She never called and offered to get the photos to us quicker because she felt bad, said she'd send us some free prints because she felt terrible....nothing! If you were Brooke, wouldn't you feel bad? Wouldn't you send at least an email, text or call the bride and groom after, apologize and say you're going to make it right and make sure the photos come out amazing? Nope, not Brooke. She gave my wife attitude, was rude and demeaning when she emailed Brooke stating her frustration and disappointment. 75% of the photos her husband took, I wouldn't print. He did get some good ones, I'll give him that. He also has a $6k camera...we all get lucky. Brooke has some good photos online, I'll give her that too. Regardless, I would NEVER recommend Brooke Aliceon to shoot someone's wedding. The absolute worst thing you could do as a wedding photographer is call out 30 minutes before....AND HAVE YOUR HUSBAND DO IT FOR YOU! Brooke could have easily still shown up to the wedding, worn a mask and stayed away from everyone and shot outside. Especially since she had already been driving an hour and was only 30 minuets away when she found out ; ) ; ) That's what a professional would have done. Brooke isn't professional though. We knew that from the beginning, but against our better judgment we decided to not lose our deposit and go with someone else, gave her another chance (after we sent several emails voicing our concerns) just to be disappointed on our wedding day. After our wedding my wife sent an email to Brooke noting our frustrations with her and what happened. BROOKE DIDNT RESPOND FOR A MONTH! Maybe next time you should try taking a Covid test more than 30 minutes before you're suppose to shoot a wedding, so the bride and groom can plan accordingly. Had you done that, I could have brought my camera gear and had my grandmother shoot the wedding, since your husband was clueless. You told my wife a month later after you finally responded to her email that you felt sick the day before but tested negative...knowing that you were sick and not feeling well....why would you wait so long to take a test the day of our wedding? So you jumped in your car, drove an hour and took a test in your car on your way to the wedding and it came up positive...so you turned around and told your husband to take care of it? Your story doesn't add up. You had to leave at least 2hrs before the wedding to get there on time, yet you didn't tell us (or I mean your husband told us) that you have Covid only 30 minutes before our shoot. Look at these attached photos and tell me they don't look like someone took them with their phone and a flashlight. Brooke, the problem with being a "natural light" photographer...is it doesn't work so well in the dark. Go invest in a speedlite trigger system with some 7ft stands and some diffusers...pro tip ; )

My experience very similar to Valerie C. After waiting 10 weeks for photos (contract says 6-8) I…read moreemailed asking where the photos were. She replied that she had trouble uploading them and would work on it. She gave me a link to the gallery that didn't work. For the next 2 weeks I called, texted, emailed, messaged and left voice mails telling her we still hadn't received a working link to the photos. We accidentally stumbled upon the photos one day by checking her portfolio daily. She still hadn't informed us they were finished or provided a link. Brooke had taken my other daughter's wedding photographs in 2013 and they were stunning. To be fair, most of these photos were of the same beautiful quality, but half of the wedding party formal photos had equipment, cars, people, sprinkler pipes, etc. in the background. I asked her if she could edit out or blur the background of those photos. It wasn't until I threatened to leave a negative review that she got back to me and told me it wasn't her job to check the backgrounds, she wouldn't edit them, and I had unrealistic expectations. Well here's what I expected: 1. I expect you to inform us and supply a working link to the photos when they are finished. 2. I expect you to pay attention to the backgrounds and edit when necessary 3. I expect you to answer my many communication attempts in a timely and professional manner. Even when you are out of town or have Covid, a simple "I'm working on it, will get back to you" would've sufficed. The total silence is frustrating and unacceptable. 9 years ago I highly recommended Brooke. Her lack of communication has forced me to write this negative review. I hope she will improve her communication skills because some of her photos turned out beautifully.

I am 28 and wanted to feel more confident in what I was wearing and stop having clothes as a source of stress or confusion. I tried to learn alone with things like Stitch Fix, browsing Pinterest or using other free online resources...but it was a game changer working with Carrie and saved me a lot of time trying to figure things out on my own. Style/fashion/clothes is something that used to stress me out so much. While working with Carrie, I not only gained confidence in my wardrobe and reduced future stress when going to any event (or even with every day clothing decisions/being on zoom, etc), I also I felt like I got a personal class on fashion! I learned what colors look the best on me, what kinds of clothing (shape, material, etc.) I like the best and WHY. This makes it so much easier for me to make decisions about clothing in the future, as well. Carrie was so great to work with!! I feel so set up for the foreseeable future and would definitely work with her again in the future years when I need a wardrobe refresh :)

My fiance and I are having a short engagement and, with our busy lifestyle, found the wedding…read moreinvitation aspect of planning had fallen behind schedule. Accordingly, we planned to put something simple together to decrease the turnaround time. But my father (a stickler for detail) had other ideas for the wedding invitation of his only daughter. He wanted a custom invitation that, when I was initially researching stationers, seemed to require a minimum of a month long turnaround. This was of concern to my fiance and I. Trying to balance my dad's ideas with our timeline was weighing on us heavily. Ultimately, if my dad wanted something so specific, I requested his help in making it happen. Enter Deborah. When my father introduced me to Deborah, I was talking to a few stationers about the desired design. The highest quote came in at $6,000 (!!!) and the lead times were lengthy. These were really deal breakers for my fiance and I. Deborah, on the other hand, had an incredibly reasonable quote that was really in the range of what we wanted to pay, even before my father started mentioning all of these customization he envisioned. She also had a shorter lead time than the other stationers. These reasons made her the obvious choice for the job. But that was only the start of why we felt lucky to have found Deborah. Once we had her on the job, we met with her in a matter of days to describe the concrete ideas we had for the wedding invitation itself (she had already sourced the specific paper we were requesting by this point--made by a manufacturer far away and with potentially limited quantities). We also discussed the verbiage for the details insert, but we had a sketchy idea of design/layout and asked she employ her design skills to make us a mock up to review. After our meeting, she took ideas from many disparate things we had shown her to complete the final design of the whole invitation suite: my parents' wedding invitation, the font/style from our save-the-date, and images of invitations I had pinned. We exchanged emails back and forth requesting various changes and making selections about the design. Meanwhile this all-important paper was being shipped from afar. Deborah had estimated our wedding invitations would be done in two weeks of our meeting, but we were astounded when she delivered a custom made invitation suite within one week. I am not sure we could have ordered a stock invitation from a place like Minted and had it quite so fast. The suite included the handmade paper, a beautiful vellum insert, the twist of a eucalyptus-colored envelope, and gorgeous fonts. The clincher? She stuffed and mailed all ~200 invitations for us! We were completely blown away by that. Deborah went absolutely above and beyond for us. Stuffing 200 invitations takes time and this was a complimentary service. With how busy we are, it can not be understated how supportive this was for us. We just simply could not have been more pleased to send out our invitations so timely (our concern), with beautiful custom handmade deckle edge stationary (my dad's concern), and within budget (appreciated by all concerned). If you are thinking about hiring Deborah, don't hesitate. She will make what can feel like an overwhelming process completely painless and, really, a delight. Thank you, Deborah!
