The owners are young and very nice. Drinks are cheap and the servers are super friendly. I especially love all the local sports memorabilia complementing the overwhelmed 1970's paneled walls. Some may say it's beat-up and tattered I however like to think of it as "broken-in" with a boat load of character. The shelving behind the bar is tricked out with some impressive woodwork that looks older than the dirt it sits on. If only these walls could talk. The men's room is horrific, however there is a Hanoi Jane sticker in the urinal to distract you from its surroundings. They have no menu so don't show up hungry unless you're into Slim Jims and Cheese Doodles. Smoking is permitted. PP

After exiting my apartment I would turn left to experience the classiest neighborhood the city of Scranton has to offer - but if I wanted a bit of fun, I would turn right. It goes without saying that the Normandie was located on the right, deep within the Pinebrook section. The Normandie's drinks are inexpensive, the jukebox is loud, and shuffleboard and pool tables are always open. The crowd at this bar has a reputation for being rowdy and a bit rough around the edges, but you can't be considered a true Scrantonian until you get into a bar fight at the Normandie. A popular local saying is "Stormin' the Norm" - back when I lived in Scranton, that's what you'd find me doing on all my free weekends.

There is not a whole lot of parking, but the locals park pretty much anywhere they can fit in. Their pizza is probably the best fried pizza in Northern Luzerne County. There is better in lowere Luzerne County in the Wilkes Barre and Dallas areas, but for this far up...this is top notch. First... a tray of pizza is 14 cuts, but they do sell a half tray of 7 cuts. You must order onions for additional flavor. Their sauce is pretty good, although I did note a little more oregano in it this time, which I am not a fan of, but it was still really good. I always get 1 to 2 trays to take home with me when I am in town. The Buffalo hot wings are the absolute best! The celery was so fresh, and the blue cheese dressing was chunky, tangy, and fresh and was the perfect accompaniment to the spicy, but not too spicy, wings. Hubby is a wing FREAK, and he has to have these wings every time we visit the area as soon as we hit town!
