Worst massage I've had in my life. I ended the session early it was so bad. Which is saying a lot for a very tired mom of two young kids. The sheets looked dirty and threadbare. My "masseuse" seemed to have absolutely no knowledge of massage therapy, trigger points, connective tissue... basic anatomy. It was all over the place - from rapidly flailing her arms and hands over my back (no real pressure, just an extremely fast pace), to just sort of holding my hands and touching them like she was trying to tickle them. She ignored all of my problem areas I circled and didn't seem to know what they were. I repeatedly asked her to slow down, change pressure, focus on my points of worst tension... she had no clue what she was doing. She did my arms and legs twice (once on back and once on front...?) by lightly rubbing them and then occasionally squeezing (not tissue work, just squeezing like you would a bottle of ketchup.) She left my legs uneven - working on one for a while and then when she started the other one I asked if she could please find some time to work on my neck. She immediately dropped the leg she just started on and came to my neck. She was very uncomfortable and did not know knots, trigger points, etc. At one point she picked my head up off of the table and just started moving my entire head around, twisting my neck, moving my head like "I guess this is something... right? Do I move it like this?" To top it all off, I requested the CBD add on. There was absolutely no CBD in the lemongrass-heavy balm she used. I regularly get CBD massages (I came here last minute because my other masseuse called in sick and I had neck pain.) It did not smell like CBD. It did not feel like CBD. This was not CBD. I was so uncomfortable with my masseuse I was counting the seconds until it would be over until I just asked to end it. At the front desk I said I'd like to give them the benefit of a doubt that the CBD was mixed up and this lemongrass balm was accidentally used. The woman at the front desk (who, to La Vida's benefit was very kind and professional) said that this was indeed their CBD and that they mix it with things that probably make it smell like that. So, it seems to me, as someone who is well acquainted with CBD, that La Vida is selling an expensive product but replacing it with something cheap to price gouge and take advantage of clients who might not know the difference. They didn't charge me for the hour of my life I wasted. They offered me another massage to try to make up for it. That is a kind offer, but I said I would not be coming back. TL;DR: worst massage I've ever had, masseuse seemed to have absolutely no experience or training, fraudulent CBD products, left early because it was just that bad. read more

Horrible Establishment!!! I highly do NOT RECOMMEND anyone to visit this facility for a massage. The massage therapists are poorly trained, and when I informed the manager Nora Harris regarding my recent services, she said, "Oh Well, they are the best we have." Nora is informed her therapists are not well trained and do not care because she runs a money-hungry facility. They sweet talk you into establishing a membership, and once you cancel the membership and request a refund for unused services, Nora Harris says, "Oh well, there's nothing we can do about it." I am very displeased with how Nora's customer service and how she is running her business. Lavida Massage has left a nasty taste in my mouth and a sore back and neck. Lavida used to be good, but availability of services is low, and staff turnover is high, so if you do get an appointment, chances are it is with a "green" staffer who is still learning. I had a monthly membership for over 4 years at La Vida Sandy Springs. In January 2019 I moved and stood in the lobby and canceled my membership with the manager. Six months later I am still being billed because I didn't fill out and return by snail mail a cancellation form, which of course was not mentioned when I verbally, physically, on the premises, cancelled my membership. When I called to discuss the issue, I was told that the manager (who by the way was the best therapist employed at the business) was no longer with the company and was not at "good employee". LaVida Massage is conveniently located in a main shopping area within Sandy Springs near Whole Foods (aka lots of parking options). As a big fan of massages, I elected to purchase a monthly membership package and I have thoroughly enjoyed every second of my time with LaVida. Everything about the experience is great--from the welcoming reception staff, to the ability to elect add-ons, to the massage itself. I found LaVida on Yelp and chose it because of the hours, prices and positive reviews. You can book online and select a massage or facial, an instructor, gender preference, date and time. I picked Leah (who's no longer there) because I wanted a nighttime appointment to avoid traffic. I have been to four out of five locations and every massage therapist I've had has been amazing. You can add micro-dermabrasion or aromatherapy (lavender and tea tree are my favorites) to a massage for an additional $5. There's plenty of free parking and a first time massage is $39.95. Then the price goes up to $69.95 but I've never paid that because I became a member. I had no intention of joining but my first massage made me a believer! Members get a monthly massage for $49.95 which is debited from your card. You can cancel any time with notice of course. The atmosphere is very relaxing. There's aromatherapy in the lobby and comfy chairs. The receptionist is nice and the restroom is clean. Your therapist leads you to a private room where they ask which areas are troubling you. Then they leave so you can undress to whatever makes you feel comfortable. Soft sounds of nature play in the background and the lighting is dim. The temperature is cool but they can heat the table upon request. The masseuse comes in and the magic begins! No matter how much pressure is used, I always fall asleep. I apologized for snoring but Leah said it's a compliment :). Afterwards you dress and you're offered a cup of cold water. A minimum tip of $10 is encouraged but not obligatory. I've had massages everywhere from Spa Sydell to Chateau Elan and they all pale in comparison. I have Myofacial Pain Syndrome. Exercise, turmeric pills, stress reduction and LaVida massages are an essential part of my maintenance plan. I would encourage you to give them a try! read more

Was given a massage at LaVida, as a surprise, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Initially, I have to be honest, I was a bit skeptical, because I had never heard of La Vida, and I thought....oh geez, is this place going to be sketchy, or dirty, etc. However, it was anything but....from the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly, and the waiting room was very welcoming, and the place smelled great, just like a spa should. I had Chris (a female), for my masseuse, and she was great. Not only was she sweet, and we chatted a bit, but she also had a lot of "oomph" in her massage for being such a tiny girl....lol. She really got those kinks out of my neck and shoulders, and was even able to give me suggestions on what to do at home, to work out some of those muscles after my workouts...... All in all, La Vida, is a great spa without all the "frills" of a traditional place like a Spa Sydell and such. However, that is about the only thing that they lack, outside of that, you have great prices, massages, and people.....I definitely wouldn't hesitate to book another massage or other service here!!! read more

So I visit LaVida for a little self-care on NYE, and the service was amazing. The attendants were extremely warm and friendly. I was paired with massage therapist John. The aromatherapy and ambiance in my room were great, and I love that it wasn't too cold. After a 90 minute massage with John, I felt amazing. The service sells itself. I loved that the attendants didn't force products on me. The advertisement for memberships is pretty straightforward. If you inquire, they are happy to assist you, but if you don't wish to join, they are still happy to help. For that reason, I will join, anyway! read more

Deep tissue massage for $39.95 (for first time clients), a massage therapist that is worth his weight in gold and a front office staff that is personable and not pushy-how refreshing! When I walked in, or limped, as I could barely stand up, I was greeted by a happy front desk staff that genuinely was happy to be at work. Like I said, I could barely walk and they were kind enough to bring the paperwork to me and offer me water. I have no idea what I did to my back but within 15 minutes of my massage I felt the stress leaving my body. I am so glad I chose an hour massage! My therapist focused on my lower back but also took time to massage my face, head and feet. I was mush on the massage table! LaVida offers monthly plans but not once did I feel pressured to sign up nor did I feel like I was dealing with a used car salesman. I appreciate that more than they realize! I had never had a cupping session before I visited LaVida Massage of Sandy Springs. Rich was my very gifted therapist. Following a massage session, I took his advice to try a cupping session with my next appointment. To my amazement (I'm a skeptic), the treatment instantly relaxed overly tight muscles and tendons. The results lasted for 3-3 1/2 weeks (even w/ an active schedule + high-impact exercise on days off). I highly recommend this treatment to athletes, active people, and those interested in relieving deep muscle tension . Incurs less bruising than deep tissue massage. **Note to first-time clients: the cupping session will leave small suction marks on some treatment areas; but they will disappear, w/ proper water consumption, in 3-5 days. read more

Do yourself a favor and go see Christina (Chris H) for a massage RIGHT NOW! She is truly the best therapist I have ever seen. She really knows her stuff! I have been seeing her for close to a year now, and she has truly changed my body. She specializes in something called skeletal integration, although I don't totally know what that means I am happy with the results. She has helped improve my posture, she let me know why I had gotten so "slumpy" and she told me how we would fix it. Every time I see her, we work more deeply on my problem areas, and she always sends me out with a list of stretches so we can stay on track. She is young, but she knows what she's doing. Great prices, great staff. I go every other week to see my favorite therapist. Keeps my body from suffering from my office job seated at a desk all the time. Update, Oct 2015: After going regularly for a year, I am bringing my 5-star rating down to 2-stars because my top two massage therapists became so busy I couldn't get the time and date I wanted even when I planned a month in advance. OK so I've been very hesitant to go get a facial but..... one of my friends finally convinced me to go get one. That's when I met Brenda at LaVida Massage. She was very informative and helped me know what kind of skin I have while educating me on what I use currently can benefit or do damage to my skin. She told me everything she was going to do before she did it and made me feel very comfortable. I had some sort of water sonic facial so she was using this special device. She made it very clear what the machine was going to do so it wouldn't be any surprises. After she was done my face had this different kind of glow.... I am moving out of town soon and LaVida is one of the places I am sad to be leaving! I have been a member for close to a year now and just think this place is excellent. I initially got a massage per a friend's recommendation. I was hesitant to committ to a monthly service but I am so happy I did! I have been to many different spas, fancy and not-so-fancy, and this one is the best by far. It is affordable, but really the best part is the staff. The front desk staff are always so genuinely friendly. Susan is my massage therapist and she gives the best massages I have ever had in my life! The first massage she gave me I accidentally drooled on the floor, so I knew I had to keep her haha. I can be a little shy when it comes to specifying exactly what I want but I felt comfortable asking Susan to change pressure or heat or whatever. Susan's massages are never exactly the same and she really seems to learn what your body needs! She really does have magic hands! I have a physical job and a lot of stress between school and work full time, so I really cherished my monthly massage! I would highly recommend this place to anyone I know. We have had a membership for over 2 years and have been coming here sometimes more than once a month for our massages. However, I HIGHLY suggest avoiding this place for prenatal massages. The therapists do not seem licensed (as they say they are) to do prenatal massage therapy as they do not avoid the pressure points that can cause pre-term contractions, unless you tell them. To top it off, the client service is terrible - the only therapists that are licensed for prenatal at the Sandy Springs location are rude and show no enthusiasm that you're pregnant. Also, when they start massages late, they will still end them on time, not giving you a full session. I had a 1:15 pm 90-min massage booked, which didn't start until 1:30 due to the therapist, Dion, being slow to turn over the room and come in for the massage, and then ended the massage at 2:35 pm - that's only 65 mins of massage time when it should have been 80 mins. If you're going to go to this place, avoid it if/when you are pregnant for your safety! Not worth the money, headache and stress you feel afterwards! read more

I have been coming to the Sandy Springs location since 2014. I had great massages here and would always recommend the place to others. In October my FSA company made a huge error and would not remit payment to LaVida. I spoke to them repeatedly trying to correct the situation and in November I decided to just pay out of pocket moving forward. After I made the November payment I received a call from the receptionist stating my massage therapist did not have any appointments. I was like, ever? I thought it was odd but was told the owner would contact me. When I didn't get a call from the owner after over a week I decided to call back. I was able to book 2 appointments. Monday 12/18 was my next scheduled appointment and I just 12/16 received a call informing me that my massage therapist had to cancel. There was no mention of a reschedule. After requesting continued clarification I was told my massage therapist no longer wanted to work with me. I was also informed I would not be able to speak to the owner until next week sometime. Again, the owner was scheduled to contact me in November and never did. This was a complete slap in the face. I decided to pull my membership since I don't believe in giving my money to a place that can't communicate and does not want me as a patron! I really liked my massage therapist and never had problems with this location until October. It really is a shame and I feel hurt by the entire situation!! read more

Hi Yelpers! Was just out doing my normal errand runs and decided to give this place a try. Walk ins are available but I made a next day appointment. I have frequented fancy places with so so therapists and "interesting" places with great therapists. Yet in my entire life, I maybe only experienced 2-3 locations with both... La Vida gets added to this list and here is why: The location...conveniently The decor/ambiance....peaceful and serene The rooms...clean, new, apropos The therapist.....OMfreakingG!!!! I have had countless massages (and I am not joking I had one come to my house weekly for months, also got them through employee benefits so yeah, I believe in hands on therapy for all issues). And maybe, MAYBE I have had a therapist to massage my scalp as a normal part of the massage say twice. This one did it without prompting and with CONFIDENCE. Additionally, she offered an abdominal massage. I never had one of these before EVER. It was awesome. She is Ren, ask for her by name, you will not regret it! I loved this experience so much, I purchased one of the many specials they are offering, 3 $50 gift cards and received a FREE massage...Are you freakingkidnMe! But wait there is more... 1st time clients receive a 60 minute (yes an HOUR long) massage for $40!!! I am so not kidding. There are too many deals to list here. Go by there and check it out for yourself or check their website. I know they do facials and they had a pretty extensive menu that I sort of glossed over because I was more interested in meeting the owner and guess what...She was there AND I did meet her! The intake manager Richie was very sweet and courteous. And I could tell that my therapist Lane was a very good therapist but I was honestly quite disappointed and put off by my experience. Lane never checked in with me either for pressure or for comfort throughout the entire 90-minute session. Even when he first entered the room, so the ankle pillow was too high during the entirety of the session. He did get some good work in, but it felt more like a relaxation massage. In my brief consultation, I had asked for therapeutic work to increase my range of motion, especially in my pecs and axillary area, and I got none of that done. I'm not sure if it was just an off day for him or if he just gives the same massage to everybody. read more

My husband recently surprised me with a LaVida membership. I was so excited since I have used and enjoyed LaVida for a while now. Unfortunately that excitement was short lived. A few Sundays ago I woke up at 5am with horrible neck pain and called LaVida Johns Creek, LaVida Alpharetta, and LaVida Sandy Springs to schedule a same day massage (LaVida Johns Creek is where we purchased the membership, and since they did not have any openings, the staff suggested I call Alpharetta and Sandy Springs locations). Alpharetta was fully booked as well but luckily, the sandy springs location had 2 openings. It was a 30 minute drive one way so 1 hour round trip but I was in so much pain--and I had been told at Johns Creek that my massages for the rest of the month would be at the member rate at $44.95 since I had my first massage for the month just that Wednesday--so I weighed out that it was worth the drive for relief and the ideal pricing of the additional membership massage. A few red flags before the massage: 1) I was not provided the name of the massage therapist upon booking. 2) I was not alerted that my membership pricing didn't count at the Sandy Springs location since my membership was purchased at Johns Creek--something that was never communicated to me nor my husband when signing up for membership. 3) When I booked my appointment I was told to come 5-10 minutes early, which I came 15 minutes early. However I guess LaVida Sandy Springs doesn't ask the same of their massage therapists since mine walked into the building at 1:45pm for my 1:45pm massage that I arrived at 1:30pm for. First impressions: no one was friendly. The front desk ladies talked amongst themselves, and the massage therapist was dry. I tried telling myself that Sandy Springs culture is just different than Johns Creek and Alpharetta but I think it really is a lack of customer service at this specific location. The massage therapist was late to work and did not bring me back until 1:50pm for a 1:45pm massage. After I quickly undressed and prepped for the massage, I laid on the cold table until 1:57pm. LaVida really should not include clocks in their massage rooms if they aren't going to require their employees to be on time. I probably would've never known how much time I was jipped if there wasn't a clock. Finally once the therapist returned at 1:57, it was only to tell me she was too hot, and she was going to leave to tell the front desk staff that she was hot. I'm sure rushing into work late, hustling to get your stuff put up and into a session within 30 seconds would elevate anyone's body temperature. And I was COLD already. The room and table were both very chilly. At this point I was so upset with the first impression I decided "I'll deal with this later. I'll try and enjoy this moment." This was hands down the weakest massage I have received at LaVida. The therapist used one hand for 50% of the time while she drank from a styrofoam cup in the other hand. She was talkative, and she seemed to ask the right questions about my pain but here I am days later STILL in a considerable amount of pain when I normally feel better the day after a massage. The therapist concluded the massage promptly and left the room at 2:44pm. At checkout, the girl charged us the full $59.95 and did a poor job explaining as to why we were paying the first massage rate for members when we had JUST had a massage four days prior at the Johns Creek location for $44.95. Her response was that since our membership is out of the Johns Creek location, we can only receive that discounted price at the Johns Creek location. 1) this was never explained to me nor my husband otherwise he would have never signed up for a membership (how does this business plan even make sense? It's all the same company!). 2) it was the staff at Johns creek who suggested we call Sandy Springs!!!! I would have never called the other locations if it wasn't their idea in the first place. I feel the need to mention I have been a member of recurrent membership plans before, and I am currently enrolled in a recurrent membership with The Joint. I went down to the The Joint Sandy Springs location the same day and I was treated like family even though I had purchased my membership from the Alpharetta Joint location. I wasn't charged extra and my session didn't run late/wasn't cut short. LaVida definitely needs to step up their membership and customer service game. It was extremely disappointing to have such different experiences. We will definitely not be returning to the Sandy Springs location, and my husband more than likely will cancel the membership now. I wrote this review on February 19th and my husband contacted LaVida regarding the poor experience. We were told the manager from the Sandy Springs location would reach out and she never did. I waited to publish this on 3/11 to give LaVida a fair chance to resolve. read more

Clean, comfortable, and modern. Heated beds were great! We had couple's massage. Both Ren and Tamika were excellent. If you book and prepay your next appointment as you leave, they charge $50 instead of $70 (initial visit is $40). I prepaid for my next three visits I liked it so much. Other thoughts... Wish I'd paid $5 more for the aromatherapy. Also, lots of staff. There were three people working the front and I saw a half dozen therapists. Staff was not overly pushy though, and they offered hot tea or water while you waited. Last thing, they had signage for recommended tip as $15. read more

I've had several massage's from the High End Spa's to that monthly chain they have all over Atlanta. This place, hands down was the best. Catherine did a phenominal job. If I could've, I would've left her $100 tip. She knew exactly how much pressure, where the knots were and even served up some suggested stretching tips for me. I will be back here for sure. I went in today to get a massage and bikini wax. The massage was done by Rich and he was knowledgeable and super sweet!! He applied just the right amount of pressure and made the experience wonderful. The wax was done by this really nice girl i want to say her name is ashante but im so sorry if i butchered it. She mad the painful experience funny which i really needed. What i really liked about this place was that at the register they have a sign that says if u had a bad experience address them instead of giving them a shitty review online so they can help make it better!
