If I could post zero stars I would. I called the office this morning stating that I put a small…read morechip in the front of my tooth and would need a filling. They booked my appointment right away, I gave all my information over the phone including my blue Cross dental insurance information. They verified my benefits, tols me that they were an in-network provider, and my visit would be fully covered. I go into the exam room where the flight tech takes an Xray and a picture of my tooth. I then wait 45 minutes for Dr Sands to come in and examine my tooth. He then tells me it is a cavity and I would need a filling. I was prepared for this and totally fine with me. What I was not expecting was for him to tell me I would have to come back to do the filling because he needed to verify he was going to get paid by my insurancre. I was confused, stating that his front desk had already verified my dental insurance and stated I needed to be aware that any out of pocket costs would be due today, again I was fine with this. He said "I've been burned too many times by insurance carriers and the only way I'll do the filling today is if you pay out of pocket and get reimbursed by your insurance." There was some back and forth with questions and what I got was an attitude. I don't understand how you can be an in network provider with insuramce, verify my benefits, then tell me you would do my filling unless I paid cash? He tell told me I was welcome to leave and find someone else to treat my tooth. What a waste of over an hour. I will be telling anyone I can about this, I filed a claim with my insurance, and I will never recommend this dentist office to amyone. I work in the medical field and deal with insurance companies all day long. I am aware of how insurance works and had my coverage open on my phone. I am dumbfounded! I have been to many dentists in my life and never been told such a thing! If you are so worried about insurance then maybe you shouldn't accept them. I thought the point of a dentist was to treat patients teeth?

"Worst Dentist Ever" -- My wife…read more I can't recommend this practice at all. Our first contact with them sums up our total experience. My wife had an appointment for a chipped tooth. On the day of her appointment, my wife called to see if she could be seen a bit later in the day. The office staff told her "Boy am I glad you called before you came in. We can't see you today because the staff is out of town for a seminar." Are you kidding me? How could they not know ahead of time? What poor, poor planning. Later, my wife and I both had cleanings and new patient exams, about 4 months apart. In both cases, the cleaning took over 2 hours. That is not at all acceptable. The cleaning was intolerably long, especially when considering it was during the daytime, when most patients need to return to work. 90 minutes is ample time to do an intake, check insurance benefits, take x-rays, do a cleaning, check margins, have an exam by the doctor and create a treatment plan. They failed sadly on that front. In both cases, we were required to make payment at the time of service, even though we both presented insurance cards from our employers. In both cases, the preventative care is covered 100% by our insurer. In the past 15 years, we have had new dentists due to moving a lot. In every other case, the dentists' office staff call the insurer at the time of arrival, or while you are in the chair, to find out the level of coverage, and then bill accordingly. However, each time at Dr Carter's office, we were asked to overpay for service immediately. This is just a lazy process on their behalf. Over 40 days passed after my service, and I still hadn't received a bill or statement from Carter's office, let alone my refund for overpayment. I had to call them and request it. In my wife's case, we are still waiting for them to give us a refund from her service which was over 5 months ago. She was billed 100% at time of service. Nice racket. As for the level of service, the office is nice, the staff is friendly. It was a little odd to see them still using bitewings instead of digital imaging. (If you move around a lot OR need additional work with endo's, etc, you'll appreciate the transportability of digital.) Shorter version: Billing issues, l-o-n-g office visits, lack of up-to-date processes/procedures mean we wont be returning. UPDATE: I made a courtesy call to Dr Carter, to politely inform him that we were leaving the practice, due to the process/operational issues. As a business owner, I appreciate that type of feedback as it is invaluable to the success of my company. However, the doctor was defensive, disagreeable and made reference to a 'missed appointment'. Very unprofessional. Also earlier in the day, after numerous reminders, the staff finally called to tell us they had finally submitted my wife's claim, albeit 5 months late. Oh, and they won't release our records directly to us, citing 'technical" and HIPAA reasons. That's so 2002.

First visit, I thought that perhaps he was a little gruff, but maybe pretty qualified. I struggled to get the next appointments. When I finally got this one, and he said that, I told him I liked his people and I was surprised at his saying that. He pretty much stormed out. What? It was so horrible I paid my bill and went to my car and cried. I never cry about anything, but it was just that awful. I literally felt unsafe with this guy. I went to another dentist who took me immediately; as in THAT DAY. This dentist had a lot of B&R's former employees on staff. They bent over backwards to let me know I wasn't alone in my experience, and they set me up with a wonderful care plan. They fixed my immediate issue and we worked out an equitable treatment plan in a full meeting with the office person who was beyond kind. Totally opposite my Boss & Rorvik experience. Weeks later I got basically an eff off letter from B&R essentially firing me as a patient... although I'd already done that for them and I'd never had any further contact since that day. I don't know what is wrong with that office, and at this point, I don't really care. It prompted me to find someone better who makes me feel welcomed and more confident about my care. But the instability of the big guy alone in this place is a big no for me. The clear stress of his staff is a big no for me. I hope your experience is better. Nobody should feel like that leaving any kind of health care facility, even if it is just a dentist.

Dr. Grove is a very nice man, patient and knowledgeable. previously, I had a crown procedure by my local dentist. However, when he got ready to put the permanent crown on, I was was having severe pain when I would bite on something with that tooth. So, he put the permanent crown on temporarily, and gave me a referral for an Endodontist to examine me. Dr. Grove did several tests and ultimately made two recommendations: root canal, or extraction and implant. The latter was because he couldn't rule out that the tooth had a hidden crack. I chose the former option, and he immediately did it. After the anesthesia wore off, I had only a little pain, and that was in the jaw joint from holding my mouth open wide for so long. By the next day, zero pain! I would recommend Dr. Grove to everyone!
