Okay, I knew it was easy access from I-40, so I can't really fault the park for that, but the trucks are loud. I'd much rather hear the train in the distance all night than the trucks. The bathrooms are acceptable, but please fix the locks on the stalls. Sites are very narrow, but the concrete pads are new and are they level! There seems to be a good deal of workers staying here, which kind of makes it a little sketchy (just a feeling, nothing happened but single women might want to know this). The dog run is tiny, in the back corner and pretty useless. It also appears that many persons believe that if their dog uses the edge of the camp road near the expressway that they don't have to clean it up. Nasty folk do that-pick up after your dogs, people! Would I stay here again? I don't know, with at least 5-6 other RV parks within 25 miles, I might try somewhere else. In regards to the Good Sam discount, we booked on line and it was honored. Here's the $2 buck tour...and 2 stars, in memory of the $2 not refunded. As I wait for my single load of laundry to complete the wash cycle, I decided now was a great time to write this review. We had a dispersed campsite nearby all set for the night. At the last minute, I remembered staying here before in May of 2021. Clean spot. Has laundry facilities. Nice that it has a brewery attached; of which we looked forward to visiting again. Heck, I even am willing to give up a good nights sleep, to get caught up on our laundry! (If you are unaware, the RV Park is just yards from the I-40. And, you hear the truck traffic noise 24/7.) Being on a month long road trip, we had collected quite a bit of laundry. We still have about 10 days remaining on our trip. So, the MAIN reason for paying nearly $40 for the night in a RV park versus a free dispersed campsite in the beautiful surrounding BLM lands, was to get all 4 loads of laundry done in one or two sessions: jeans, towels, delicates, and regular clothing. We needed a "reset" day. We hauled the two, full laundry baskets across the RV park, and loaded up the only two washing machines there. There're also two dryers. All machines showed that it is $2.00 to operate them. We put in the correct amount and shut the doors...but...it failed to stay closed on one of the washers. After examining the door, we noticed that a part to hold the door closed, was broken. Obviously, it has been that way for some time now, as you can see in the pic, there is both new detergents and softeners, as well as really old ones. People have loaded it up numerous times before us, before realizing it is broken. Sickening and gross. Anyway, because there isn't one of those numbers to call after a vending type machine rips you off, my husband went to inform the only person available - which was the bartender. He said that they're "aware of it." His boss "knows about it...tried to fix it...needs to order the part..." to which my husband said - "So you're telling me I'm SOL?" The on duty Rep for the RV Park replied in the affirmative. SOL. Which is another way of saying FU. They've known for a while now, and have not unplugged it, nor placed an "OUT OF ORDER" sign on the thieving machine. I think that's as crooked as it gets: to knowingly take money without providing goods or a service. Sneaky. Scamming unsuspecting guests - who will just shrug off the $2 bucks. Not me. This is what Yelp was created for, in my opinion; to make customers aware of the good AND the bad. And in this case, the flippant way of treating your paying guests. The bartender could have offered a discounted beer, handed over two dollars, or said he'd let the owner know and will credit another load of laundry to us. None of that has happened. Better customer service would go a long way - especially in the hospitality business. And believe me, it's not like we are broke and NEED the $2 bucks. It's about being RIPPED OFF...and nobody giving a crap. So, this $2 buck tour of our experience at Lavaland RV Park is now concluded. And, trust me, that is the last $2.00 the owner will ever steal from us. As repeat guests, we will never stay here again! Do not put your money into those machines. Shame, shame, shame... Oh! And after writing my $2 buck tour of this business, and before I post it - I want to let the message get to the owner overnight and give him the benefit of the doubt, and wait to hear back. I also took another look at the Yelp Reviews. Lo and behold! Check out the hidden "1 Review not currently recommended" at the bottom of the page. It's by a Brent D., written nearly 8 years ago. I've included a screenshot for reference. Seems integrity is scarce around here. And yet, I'll still give the owner until we leave to refund our lost money, before I post this. Lavaland is a rather informal, no frills kinda park. Check-in information was written on a 3"x5" card, no slick printed color flier, no pool or hot tub, no cute gift shop. But it was easy in/out, perfect for one night, and although near the freeway, not noisy. Nice little brewery on site. Great local Mexican food. But not much else. For easy in/out overnight: 3 stars. Booking the reservation was so easy. I went online, I saw what was available, I picked out my spot and I paid. When we arrived, I didn't have to deal with anyone I just went to a kiosk and checked in, took all of one minute. The spaces are marked we pulled into our space and set up camp. Our space was very long, it accommodated our motorhome, trailer and off-road vehicle. It looks like many of the people here live here. No one bothered us. Very quiet even though it's next to the highway. It looks like they are doing a lot of work installing new electric concrete pads. I think the only issues we had was the water pressure was a little high and the Wi-Fi was spotty. I would recommend lava land RV park. read more

This park is great for overnight or few days! Many long term campers but for the price I can understand why! The cherry on the top is the on-site brewery! Elkins Brewing. Fantastic selection of beers all brewed in house! A must to try for the brewery enthusiasts! There are some improvements in the works and will happen in time. Hookups for instance are being upgraded. Suggest calling ahead to make sure the power is suitable for your rig. The park manager, Minerva is friendly and kind and she try's to accommodate the needs of the camper. A generous soul! Lots of things to see and do around the Grants area! Try the CDT and then end the day with a craft brew! read more

We had a reservation, made at least 2 months in advance. We had the printed statement stating we were paid. The statement shared all the bathroom codes, laundry code etc. We had spot 28 "elite pull- thru". Great! So we thought. We arrived and spot 28 was taken. The check-in process was via a computer that didn't work. My husband knocked on the door of the poor soul that had spot 28. He claimed he had an email that stated it's his until Monday. My husband walked around until he found the RV for the part-time maintenance man, who real couldn't help. We looked at all the remaining sites and tried to determine which one would fit our 40 ft motor home and still get the slides out. The RV next to us was VERY close! Gravel, no picnic tables, they have showers but the door lock is not very secure. And not sure how well they are cleaned. The mens shower had the same comb on the floor the entire time my husband used the shower! Best part, a brewery is on site. I would not stay here again. I did get a chance to speak to someone in the "office " outside the window with the computer that still was not working a few days later. I explained what happened, he really didn't seem to care. He did offer up site 28, but 2 days later. We declined because we were now all hooked up at this other site. I would suggest checking out one of the Indian Casinos down the road. read more

I called to make a reservation and told the man who answered that I had a 40' motorhome with a slide out and needed a pull through site if there was one available. He said there was and made the reservation. When we arrived, he said "well, you MIGHT FIT, but for the 'platinum rate' I can give you a larger space that you definitely will fit in." I felt like he wasn't truthful over the phone and was sneaky in person and am still not sure what he was trying to gain by it all. I would have purchased the larger site from the phone call had I been given the chance. Needless to say, I left and went on to a different park several miles up the road. My husband made reservations here before I had a chance to check reviews. After reading the reviews here and elsewhere, we approached with some trepidation, ready to leave and even forfeit any deposit we may have made. We arrived mid afternoon and there were plenty of spaces available, but they filled up pretty quickly. As we approached the front office we saw workers actively engaged in some sort of stucco work...obviously upgrading the look. The office area was newly tiled, clean, organized, and adjacent to a room with comfy looking sofas and a TV. The laundry room is just off another door to this rec room...also very clean, although one of the two washers was out of order. The young man at the check in counter was pleasant and helpful. The spaces are a bit small, but accommodated our 37' rig with slides and we didn't have to drop the toad. I walked around the whole park and didn't see anything or anyone untoward. The spaces were of varying sizes, some back-in, some pull-through. All graveled, clean and neat. Even though we usually use our own facilities, I checked out the restrooms and found them to be updated, nicely tiled, and, very clean. The only negative really seems to be the cable hookups might be at alternate sites and unless you have a really long cable, you might be out of luck. Yes, it is older, but actively being upgraded. Yes, it is right on the Interstate, but we have stayed in very few parks where I couldn't hear traffic noise. It's a fine place to stop between Point A and Point B. I don't think anyone coming here is coming for the amenities. I recommend giving these folks a chance. read more
