Usually I am just happy to fill my belly. This cafe not only had the best service I have ever experienced but the food was stellar! I would go out of my way to eat here again. Everyone there was so happy to to wait on us, feed us and talk with us to understand why we were visiting. They served 3 more groups of late arrivAl's `after we showed up and with each one, they welcomed them with open arms and made sure they too had a great meal and great service. We had made reservations for 2 nights at El Morro, confirmed by an e-mail, and stating that we would receive an e-mail AND a text with the the code to our cabin several days before our arrival. We received NOTHING!! Attempts to reach anyone that could confirm that we had a place to stay by phone on the day of our arrival were fruitless. It took over an hour to finally receive a call from the owner. By That time we had made other plans, as the drive to El Morro without a confirmation that we had a place to stay was just too big of a risk. El Morro's failure to follow through on our reservation as they said that they would, along with the total inability to contact someone at the site that had a clue as to what was going on caused us to miss spending time with friends that we had not seen in over 30 years. There is nothing that can be done to replace that.....

There is a bit of a grocery and gift store here as well. My understanding is they have barbecue available some evenings, but it was not during the time we were there. We had a 30 amp pull through site and what was really odd about how this is laid out is the person next to you shares the space for the picnic table so your pleasure side of the RV is actually facing someone else if they put someone near you. I found this a little awkward and uncomfortable. The park was not full, so why everyone had to be so close together was a little odd. If I could make any suggestion here, it would be to space people out if they are not camping with each other and only Phil in the middle sites if you're full. All the utilities were fine and pricing was reasonable at $47 a night. The pool is a nice touch although it does definitely need some updated paint and the pool furniture is splintering and terribly uncomfortable. You are about 10 to 15 minutes away, a straight up shot down historic Highway 66 Into the historic town of Gallup. Take the time to explore here. There's a great coffee shop there as well as find all of the murals as they all have quite the story! We happened to visit the downtown area on Sunday, which is OK if you want quiet, but many things were closed so maybe try to go on a different day Plenty of gas stations nearby if you need to refuel as well There are some larger 50 amp sites that had a bit more privacy in the very back row, but they seem to reserve those just for the huge rigs. There's also a tent camping available along the side with power as well as some individual cabins.

You won't find big-park amenities like swimming pools or miniature golf, but you won't pay big-park prices, either. The staff is very helpful, there's a small but well-stocked convenience store, and the location--just a few hundred feet from the entrance of Bluewater Lake State Park--offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, boating, and other outdoor activities. About the only drawback I can think of is the lack of a laundromat.

We have traveled the entire United States and stayed at many RV parks and KOA. This spot in the middle of nowhere surprises us in the most best possible way! They were friendly and kind and courteous. They have a menu that you can order dinner from that is delivered to your site. And it's home cooked and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had a meat plate with brisket and ribs and I had the 12 inch pizza. It was better than any restaurant! They also serve free pancakes and coffee in the morning for anyone who wants breakfast. They even have a little store as well. This will be our stop going forward when we're traveling to the Midwest and east! We absolutely loved it.

The gal said she could only put me in site six which was not close because nothing else was open and there were only 50 amp sites close to the building. We told her that we had a converter and that was not a problem. When we arrived and we saw where the site was, I walked back and asked the gentleman inside who accommodated us immediately. A fifth wheel pulled up next to us and unhooked everything only to find out that the sites in actuality only have 30 amp, not 50 amp so they had to hook everything back up and move to a different location. They were not happy. This stuff is pretty basic - it's important to know what sites can accommodate what type of vehicles. The park seems to be next to what looks like a stockyard. Not very appealing. On the upside, they have very nicely marked trails that you can walk with signs describing the various lava formations and we enjoyed that. The other upside is that they serve free pancake breakfast in the morning, which we did not go to, but it was nice offering and also have a kitchen at night so you can order food and they'll deliver it to your site. they have two dog sites. One is very small and the other is a little larger, both without grass. Just gravel. There's no shade and it's incredibly dusty. And people go through the park fairly quickly creating a lot more dust. Not sure what they could do about it. It's just the situation to be aware of. The restrooms were clean.

So much so at Pyramid Rock, that I don't know how it is that the day turned into night within a blink. Literally, it was light outside, I was looking at the majesty of the view, and the next moment, I'm freezing and sitting alone on a rock on a hillside in the dark. I was beyond disoriented and didn't have a flashlight and didn't realize I had a cell phone with me until much later that evening. I kept thinking about praying mantises, colossal anatomical features, and some guy who was walking down the mountain who knew my name, although I had never met him before. I wasn't on drugs, am a healthy and active person, and have no known mental health problems. So, it was beyond bizarre. In any case, the search and rescue guys were awesome and it was a cool, interesting, if not a little odd, but all in all, a pleasant hike back down the mountain. Thank you to S&R as well as EMS. Y'all are giant angels!
