I believe that circulation is crucial to good health. My circulation and noticed that the movement in my upper body (especially my rib cage) was starting to diminish. I felt like I had to do shallow breaths all the time. It makes sense that fascia basically gets old and dry as we get old. Lauren explained this very well to me. "It's like a dried-up sponge that you try to wet and unless you squeeze it the water has a hard time getting wet." This made total sense to me. Lauren took into consideration my lifestyle, body type, and emotional well-being. There is no better way to describe my ten-series experience with Lauren other than life-changing. I went to her in the summer of 2021, desperate for relief from chronic pain and anxiety. I had been in search of structural integration after a motorcycle accident and I was in need of some correction for my body. Specifically, I suffered from neck and back pain, a hip condition brought about from an injured ankle that affected my gait. Having been through a couple years of physical therapy and not yielding the results I was seeking, I found Lauren Keller and something about her spoke to me that prompted me to seek her out. What I gained from this experience was a level of freedom in movement that I needed. I was alleviated from the pain that was holding me up from everyday tasks. I was able to walk much easier and relaxed. The pain in my neck was reduced so much that I am contacting my doctor to get off the pain medication I am on. Additionally, I was able to get the additional insight on how to maintain this level of relief. Lauren provided several exercises helped both physically and mentally. If I could give Lauren 10 stars, I would! Going through the 10 series is much more than body work with her. Having someone truly engaged in conversation with empathy and understanding while educating me about my body was more than I could have imagined. I am blown away by my results. I used to struggle with being in a chair or car for more than 2 hours. After 6 sessions I was successfully able to complete a 13 hour car ride with ZERO pain. Lauren's approach to client care is professional, caring, supportive, non-judge mental and informative. Working with her through the Ten Series was a collaborative process to help reduce my lower back pain, shoulder and neck pain and support improved muscle strength through learning to use my body more efficiently. I have some serious back issues and a friend mentioned Lauren as helping her cousin who is very ill. I have tried almost everything, but Structural integration, so thought I'd invest in this new process of healing myself. I'm a nurse and bodyworker myself, so thought "this better be good!" So far, it has been. I'm not "cured" and still have spinal stenosis and more...but Lauren's energy and knowledge is impressive. She's reminded me of what it feels like to feel "looser" and pay attention to my body mechanics. There were a couple of sessions that left me pain free, when I came in tight with back pain and more mobile. I would hope to feel this way more often in the future and now know it is possible. This is no miraculous cure but if youre going to try something that "does no harm" first, try Lauren's technique of bodywork. You will participate, not lay down and get a massage but will feel as if you participated in your own healthcare. As far as Lauren goes...she's a gem. I've only been through one session so far, but I felt compelled to post. I've had many massages and been through physical therapy, but within two hours, Lauren had my body feeling better than ever. Through structural integration, she helped to rework the tissues or muscles (not quite sure how it works!) in my body into their correct posture somehow, and taught me how to sit, stand, get up out of a chair, etc., so that I could carry myself strongly and correctly, making my chronic pain that much less painful. She even help me open up my diaphragm so that I could breathe better. Even sitting at my desk to write this now, I can hear her instructing me how to sit ergonomically. All that aside, Lauren was great to work with. She is kind and professional, and I could tell she truly cared about not just my physical, but also my emotional well being. Not many people are aware of the benefits that Structural Integration can provide. Remember Chiropractors in 1970? I was in constant state of pain from a tailbone injury. Could not sit for 2 years.Doctors would not do surgery, only gave me addictive meds and chiro could only do so much. Lauren was able to release the facia, which turns out to be the main problem. Each visit I felt better. The next day after her treatment was most noticeable. If you have tried everything else with no results- probably you need this. I met Lauren about a year ago and after hearing her speak about what Structural Integration was I was very intrigued to learn more. You can immediately tell she's very passionate about the work she does. I just finished up a series offered by Lauren called the 10 series, where she focuses each appointment on a specific area of your body. Working with Lauren is like something I have never experienced. I initially went in to focus on some preexisting shoulder and back pains and soon realized that the services offered by her are not primarily focused on just one area but the entire body as a whole. During each session she educated me on what she was doing and how being active and not passive is part of the process. What an amazing experience! I recently found out about this type of work, and I was really interested to try it. I don't have any major problems with my body, but every now and then my knee will bother me or my neck feels tight. I have tried different types of massage techniques, acupuncture, and other modalities but I have not felt too much difference after the session. But with Lauren it was really different, during the session she is really paying attention to your individual needs so she can address them properly. I met Lauren when I had been suffering with sciatica pain for about 2 months. I was living on Tylenol extra strength and pain patches. Needless to say, I was in need of some other solutions. When I started Structural Integration, I thought I had decent posture, but quickly learned that I was really holding tension in parts of my body I didn't even fully realize I was using in my daily movements. Having completed a series of treatment sessions, the difference is truly incredible. My gait has a much healthier and confident flow, I feel stronger, and have better endurance because now I'm moving my body in a much more efficient way, and these results have spread into the non-physical aspects of my life, too. I cannot find the words to express my gratitude for Lauren. When we met and began the ten series, I had not bent forward in four and a half years. I had accepted that I would never bend forward again. (I suffered a slipped disc in 2015 when i was 26 years young.) With no signs of relief despite the various approaches, I had been living my life in fear of re-injury. I constantly protected my back with every move I made and lived in a state of anxiety. Lauren and the 10 series gave me my life back. Not only did she help me physically, she helped me heal mentally as well. I'm now confident in my body and in my movement. I don't talk down to my back anymore which has made me a much happier person. It might not sound like a big deal, but being comfortable bending over has been life changing for me.
