It was my niece's wedding and everyone was in the room getting hair and make up done. I was on the schedule but there was a lot of "redoing" with the hot tools as curls were limping quickly, mostly due to the damp weather, so I decided to see if I could get a blow dry in the newly opened salon connected to the hotel and lucked out with an opening. As soon as Lauren walked into the room, she brought enthusiasm and excitement. She asked detailed questions about what I thought I wanted as she examined my hair. I was short on time but she said not to worry, I will walk out with a beautiful hair style... and she was CORRECT! It was so elegant, soft and natural ... all in one! Working with Lauren is a dream. I truly cannot say enough amazing things about her and her work. Lauren did the hair for my wedding for myself and my 6 bridesmaids, plus my mom and my husband's mom. Everyone's hair looked amazing.. I've gotten TONS of compliments! We've all been in a number of weddings.. let me say this. Lauren was by far the nicest, friendliest, best person we've worked with (and everyone commented on this). Often times, the hair stylists do not execute your vision fully (or that of your bridal party). I could not have been more impressed with Lauren and her professionalism. Not only did Lauren do an absolutely amazing job but she was so easy to work with. I was so lucky to have her. Pinned & Proper was referred to me through a friend of a friend after a horrific experience. With less than 4 weeks before my wedding day, a hair & makeup artist did not show to my trial. The previous team was to not only do my hair & makeup but my 4 bridesmaids as well. Feeling like I could not rely on them the day of my wedding I called Lauren hoping she was available. The best!!!! Lauren is unreal. From the trial to the months leading up to the day of my wedding, Lauren made me feel at ease and uses a variety of products to make styles STAY. All of my bridesmaids updos stayed all day and all night, and my hair didn't move AN INCH. On the day of my wedding, my maid of honor went through a few different variations of her updo before being satisfied, and Lauren didn't even blink. Where do I begin? I will keep this as short as possible but this story is not to be believed: We scheduled Lauren for a trial for my wedding day hair about 2 months before my wedding. She came, it went well, we confirmed with her it would be me- the bride, my mother and my MOH, possibly my aunt and that I would let her know soon about my aunt. She had agreed even before the trial to come if it was just me and my mother and MOH. So we paid her and (tipped her) and she left. I called her afterwards and let her know it would be aunt as well and I even added another person, another friend decided she also wanted to come for her hair that day. So I just added on an extra two people to her job (aka more money). She told me she'd email me the contract within a few days. A few weeks go by - this is about a month before the wedding because I still had yet to receive the contract, and I wanted to send her the 25% deposit to confirm she would be there on my wedding day. She writes me back right away, and says "Oh, I sent it to you last week - you didnt get it?" To which i respond "nope, never got it." Now anyone who lives in 2016 and uses email knows that if you send a wrong email it most always comes back undeliverable, so I found it a little funny that she said that -- and what do you know a few days later I get the contract and she says "You're right, Rebecca, I never sent this." That was my first red flag - why would she lie to me about sending the contract? Weird, anyway - I sent her the deposit, she cashes it, I send her back the contract and in it she requires my credit card information in the case that something goes wrong. In the contract I noticed it stipulated there can be no changes within 60 days -- but clearly she sent me the contract about 3 weeks before my actual wedding day so that can not be in the realm of possibilities, right? Well boy, was I wrong! So, here I am, I booked her for myself and 4 other women (when originally she agreed to come for just 2 other women), and its 2 days before my wedding -- of course I am extremely busy doing things and my aunt and mom speak and my aunt decides, because she's got a very bad knee and that week it was acting up bad, its too much for her to go from Long Island to Brooklyn for the full day to get her hair done in the morning so she would prefer to forgo the hair and just arrive at wedding that evening. So my mother explains this to Lauren very nicely (remember she agreed to come for just 2 women, I an added extra 2 so now she had 4), and she responds to my mother two days before my wedding that she's sorry, but that is not feasible, as the contract states no changes can be made before 60 days of the event. And she would need to be paid that $100 for my aunt. Can YOU believe it?! I know, its hard to believe! Considering Lauren didn't send the contract 60 days before my event -- considering I had to bug her to actually send it to me-- she lied originally and said she sent it when she didnt -- and then she wants us to adhere to a magical timeline, and she agreed to come for just 3 girls in the beginning at the trial and then I gave her 5 and now it's 4 and she wants the extra $100 no matter what! So we tell her - thanks very much but no thanks. Why would I ever want someone who is so money hungry on the most important day of my life -- who wants us to adhere to a magical policy where somehow she claims it needed to be changed back in the past to a point where we never even communicated let alone have a contract signed! It was absolutely disgusting. So - clearly i was pretty distraught that this was happening 2 days before my wedding -- a girl's hair is one of the most important aspects of her wedding day -- luckily the company I originally wanted to go with was still available that morning because their event wasn't until later in the day and they came to save the day for me and the rest of the women. and mightI add did a fabulous job, and more importantly they were kind, warm and hospitable and appreciative! Here's the kicker: Lauren tried to steal my $500 that she would have received had she actually worked the day (after she already cashed the $150 deposit weeks before), by running my card approximately 5 times ON my wedding day! My bank called me because there was suspicious activity and they blocked her from ever trying anything like that again -- but she is a fraud who legitimately tried to steal my money the day of my wedding when I had a million other things going on -- and then I get an email from her that morning saying she would still like to come, and is in the area? It was SO creepy. And I can not tell you how disgusted I am by every thing above - but the real sick part is that she tried to steal my money the day of my wedding. What an absolute nightmare, and its completely criminal and I will be taking this to the better business bureau. read more

Lauren is excellent! To call me picky is an understatement. I had three hair trials before trying and hiring Lauren (including one with a Fekkai alum that cost $300!). Lauren was, by far, the best! She is the perfect combination of skill, professionalism, reliability, experience (from our conversation, it seemed that she was doing wedding hair right out of the womb), value and trustworthiness. I have a ton of heavy, stick-straight hair that never holds a curl for more than thirty seconds, and Lauren achieved what had previously been unimaginable to me: hair that held up both on the entire day following my trial (which included a ferry trip!) and throughout my entire wedding day! Lauren is professional, talented, and listens. At my trial, Lauren was patient. Unlike another stylist I tried who was rushed and eager to finish and get on with her day, Lauren spent over two hours trying different looks with me. Lauren was very interested in achieving my vision, which, after tying a different stylist who called my ideas "promlike and not weddinglike", was incredibly refreshing. Additionally, on the day of, Lauren was all-hands on deck. She arrived on time, and she styled my mother's (who is even more difficult than me!) hair patiently and beautifully. She also went above and beyond when she redid my niece's hair, after she was unhappy with the work of a stylist from a nearby salon. Lauren did the hair for my best friends wedding. For the trial she was very late and promised she would be on time the day of. Said she is never late and this was a one time thing. The bride believed her because sometimes things are out of our hands. The week of the wedding my friend confirmed the time, location and was told that she would bring an assistant. The morning of the wedding the bridal party went to her house at 6 am to get their hair done. An hour later Lauren still isn't there. I called her three times and left a message. We had her house number and had no choice but to call. Her dad answers and puts me on hold to wake her up!! A few minutes later the bride gets a call from her which I answered because on her wedding day she was upset! She asked me what I expect her to do. Ten minutes later she comes in and doesn't even apologize. She also didn't have a helper like was originally agreed upon. The mother of the bride and matron of honor had to go out to a place last minute to get their hair done because there wasn't enough time. Some of the girls hair fell out before the reception. When's he did the brides hair she apologized but gladly took her money. I would never recommend her to anyone needing her services. read more
