First things first: I am usually very understanding and give folks lots of room for error. We're all human, after all. That said, my experience with Puget Sound Water Birth was not great. My contract was as follows: $300 for setup, fill, cleanup and removal of a birthing tub for my home birth. I went into labor early am Thanksgiving and called Tiffany to warn her it might be the day. When we texted a few hours later, she hinted at not wanting to come out because of the holiday. Luckily for her, my labor went another 24 hours before we needed the tub. When we texted the next night for the tub, she texted what seemed to be several reasons not to come (kids, drive, tub full time)... so if I'd rather a refund, she'd do that. My midwife had to step in to get t, since I was (duh) in active labor with double peaking contractions. Upon arrival, Tiffany did a great job setting up quickly and quietly, allowing me to continue labeling without being disturbed. But... After she left, she sent a very long text with instructions on how to empty the tub (which was supposed to be part of what I paid for her to do). I ended up in the hospital due to complications, and during that, I also had to manage Tiffany picking up the tub. Saturday, I sent clear messages that someone would be at our house so she could remove it but when I didn't confirm a second time (bc still in labor on Saturday!), she didn't show and my roommate sat waiting for hours. She finally came Sunday, bc I was able to confirm bc I had finally given birth. Very long story short (yup, it could be longer), I had to manage the service WAY more than appropriate, it added stress to my already difficult labor, and I would not recommend Puget Sound Water Birth to anyone unless the service is greatly improved.

Holly is a skincare goddess. Seriously, my skin has never looked so good (and my husband even said…read morethat and we all know guys don't really pay attention to the details). I've seen Holly 3 or 4 times now with great results. I've been doing the vitamin c light therapy facial but she told me when scheduling to just to book whatever facial treatment as they are all the same price and length and she will access my skin on an appointment to appointment basis (I had booked a microderm appointment the first time and she said it would be too harsh for my skin). Last time we added a peel for my neck (sucks getting old) and the time before that we added the eye treatment. I love that I am getting personalized skincare attention and someone is not just doing the "standard" facial that any client might get. I love that she uses organic, all natural products. Are there less expensive facials in town? Yes, but trust me, Holly is worth every penny. I take one look in the mirror and my skin tells me so. And yes, as with any service at any spa you will be asked about your products, etc... and she will pitch her products. I can't recall a hair salon or spa that HASN'T done that. I have bought a couple (vitamin a serum, eye cream, daytime serum and she even mixed up a custom night serum for me). They didn't come at a cheap price and it's not something I would do all the time but honestly her custom, organic products are still less than buying SkinMedica or something along those lines. And think about how much you spend annually on skincare stuff...why not redirect some of that $$ towards something that will really work for your skin? Think of it as an investment. I just wish I had found Holly 10 years ago.

I couldn't help but feel like she was trying to read me to figure out how to get me to keep coming back (frequently) for facials. Unlike other reviewers who said Holly tried to sell then products, I felt the reverse...as if she wasn't helping me or giving me any recommendations. And that the hope that the next time I saw her she'd actually tell me what I could do to make my skin better would keep me coming back for more and more facials. Sometimes she would mention things like a vitamin supplement might fix my problem but then she didn't tell me which supplement to take or try to sell me the supplement. It was just too weird...like why was she holding back this information instead of sharing it with me? Also, in terms of the length of the facials I bought, I sometimes didn't actually get my full 80 minutes (for 1st time facial) or 45 or 60 minutes (can't remember what it is exactly). I also would pay extra for 15 minutes of red light therapy and it wasn't clear if that fee was for extra time with Holly...so it should be an extra 15 minutes added onto the length of the facial I purchased or if that fee was for the usage of the device for 15 minutes and the length of my facial would stay the same. In the end, not being told what I could do to improve my skin and not getting the full amount of time I paid for upset me too much. I haven't been back in a couple of months and have since found a great skincare brand...but still haven't found a great facialist in Seattle.
