I would give this place 0 stars if I could. If you are considering the Laurels for a loved one, keep looking, there has got to be a better option. The Laurels is incredibly disingenuous. They act like they care but they are only in it for the money. Ever since my grandmother arrived there, they have been insisting that she move to the memory side of the facility. Conveniently for them the memory care side costs twice as much. And while she does have Alzheimer's, she can still feed herself, she recognizes people, etc. on top of that, her doctors agree her condition would worsen in the memory car center. But since my grandmother continues to fall, she's 87, the Laurels will not accept her back. They have tried this every time she has been to the hospital in the 8 months she's been there. One of those trips to the hospital was because the Laurels didn't give my Grandmother her medication. It was a new prescription that they knew was coming, but didn't follow up on it for 5 DAYS. They literally put her in the hospital, and then tried to say she couldn't come back. She also told someone she fell and they didn't bother to investigate. What if she had internal bleeding? If this is how they treat their residents, I just as soon let her live under an over pass on the highway. Now, the staff that works directly with the residents, for the most part are very nice and friendly. But the people that run the place, are little better than used car salesmen. read more
