The setup featured several food trucks including The Cod Father, Hindsight BBQ, Litchfield Distillery, and an ice cream truck. We ordered from The Cod Father and were thoroughly impressed. The lobster roll was packed with large chunks of perfectly cooked lobster claw meat on a warm, buttery roll, absolutely delicious. The fish and chips were fresh, generously portioned, and crispy. Prices were reasonable, and the service was quick and friendly. Such a great evening spot with quality food and a relaxed vibe! We will be back!

The Bantam Farmers Market is gem! It's not large -- maybe a dozen or so vendors -- but the…read moreselection of fresh farm foods is quite remarkable. So many great looking red tomatoes with carrots, yummy arugula, lettuce, just-picked corn, hand-made cheeses, a huge variety of peppers -- and add in pretty flowers, cheeses, soaps and even a tarot reading! Most vendors operate under a covered shed which protects against bad weather, and the vibe here is friendly and upbeat. It feels good to be supplementing your groceries with this fresh foods, most of them grown in area farms. There's also a food truck parked here and picnic tables underneath the shed if you're hungry (there is a homemade pizza stand, too). The market operates on Fridays from 3-6 p.m. up to the end of September. We highly recommend stopping by if you're in the neighborhood.

There is side street parking for about two to three cars at the time. The store itself is monitored by cameras, and you're able to pay with Venmo or cash. The products are amazing - they all seem to basically be local or small productions. There are coolers for dairy, meats, and vegetables. There's salad dressing from the Hopkins Inn. Cheeses range from tubs of mozzarella to more sealed cheddar. On the shelves are pickles, maple syrup, seeds, and flowers. Everything is of course priced, and you can write down your purchased items to figure out your balance. It's a great shopping experience for the independent minded, and has basically everything you need for a meal or a stock up!

It's held at the Litchfield Community Center on Saturdays, and the food is just as good (and sometimes as plentiful) as it is in the summer. It's nice to know even in January I can find delicious eggs almost straight from the chicken! The only downside - no dogs in the winter market, and getting in and out of the parking lot can be a little tight. Proceed with caution and look carefully!

They had Frankie's and a bounce house there that day as well. Always check to see what cool events or music they have going on at the top! There is a playscape and farm animals. In the fall, there are hayrides and corn mazes. On this visit, a very hot day, (August 12), my family and picked peaches. The orchard was full of juicy peaches. We got the smallest bag for $12. There were plenty of peaches that could fit in that bag. I can't wait to go back during the fall! It's a great farm.

In addition to veggies, Carole and Mark also have free range chickens who jump in little cubicles to lay their eggs. Usually the Grandpa of the family who is in his 90's gathers the eggs and cleans them. The farm has stands at the Torrington Farmers' Market on Saturdays and at the Collinsville Farmers' Market on Sundays during the season. Recently Jack & I had the opportunity to take a tour of the grounds. The crop looked amazing. My favorite was a visit to the "chicken coop" which was a large room in a barn with an outdoor area. The critters even have a pigeon friend who hangs out with them.
