Believing that maintenance is the key....I have relied on chiropractic in Canada to maintain my dance & skating performance levels - espically those times when - as a now 49 year old man" I find myself "out" of physical alignment. I'm a Canuck from Victoria, BC who - while exploring a life/career opportunities in my beloved San Fran - began skating/ traning at Yerba Buena arena in 2013. One day at this wonderful ice arena, I said to myself "Man am I OUT. I need to find a great chiropractor in San Fran" - literally not 5 minutes went by and Dr Kirsti stepped off the ice.. and within 5 minutes I learned not only was she a fellow Canuck but also a chiropractor! She is warm, engaging, attentive . An athlete (in great shape) - she is not only an accomplished figure skater herself, a "Tough Mudder" to boot... I have now had several adjustments with her- to great success -from "out.... to aligned' helping my on-ice balance and of course comfort being inside my physical apparatus. She is extremely professional, attentive, mindful and adept at choosing techniques are most suited... and also diligent following up adjustments to see how I am. I was on strong pain medication just to function, and I had given up on the idea of getting better. Heather explained early on that they don't just treat the part that hurts. They look at the whole body to find what's actually causing the problem. Doctor Andrew found it, and he didn't stop at my back. He worked on my feet, my thighs, my pelvis, my neck, my shoulders and my posture. He taught me how to walk, sit and stand properly. It was a full body recovery. Heather is there at every visit and she genuinely cares how you're doing. Their goal was to heal me so I wouldn't need treatment anymore. That's exactly what happened. I'm completely off pain medication now. I feel like I have my life back and I'll be grateful forever.

Not always the type of characters you want to spend much time with. I met Dr. Cohen about 7-8 years ago from a referral because I didn't want the traditional 'crack' treatment; and he was one of the few in the area that offered other treatments such as the Activator, Graston, etc.. Dr. Cohen is an extremely down to earth person that I immediately felt comfortable with. He doesn't do a cookie cutter treatment plan, he listens, he understands, asks the right questions, then after explaining to me what he thinks is happening to me, will start the adjustments with techniques I'm comfortable with. At this point, he has full reign, I trust him with whatever technique he thinks is best. Once he solves the issue (and often times more!) that brought me to him, I may not see him for another couple years. Recently, I experienced severe tendonitis for 6+ months, no help from Kaiser...I then caught one of Proactive's newsletters and Dr. Cohen talked about a new device he was recently working with at The Olympic Training Center. It' called Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT). I hadn't seen Dr. Cohen in couple years so I reached out to him and explained my tendonitis situation. I started the treatments and I immediately felt the change the next day. Things went up and down for several weeks, but it was clear that change was happening. After a couple months of treatments, I'm feeling fantastic! Being in my mid 40's and not able to pickup an empty glass or plate was devastating to me. Dr. Cohen has been instrumental in increasing my quality of life over the years and especially with the recent Shockwave Therapy - life changing. Book an appointment.
