I was very physically hurt by this provider in a way that has been debilitating. I saw Barbara on/off for several years (maybe in total 20 visits). My husband saw her on occasion as well. Except for one time, he mostly had good outcomes. Barbara was always very friendly. Her treatments were a bit rough/rushed and she's not the best listener but she has good vibes and I usually left feeling neutral or better off. However, I had two incidents with her in October of this year that damaged my spine. In 10/20, I went in for a "tune up" even though I was feeling fine. I knew that another pandemic lockdown was coming so I thought I would check in with a. visit. She cracked my neck, great, no problem. Then she adjusted my thoracic spine in a way that gave me serious pain that continued to get worse through the coming days. I contacted her and told her how hurt I was because of our last treatment, and she told me to come back in so she could help fix whatever had happened. Everyone thought I was crazy for going in to a provider who had already hurt me but she had reassured me (I have this conversation documented over text) that she would NOT crack me, only light massage and stretching - but then she ended up cracking me again. At first it wouldn't crack but she jumped on me again to crack it. It happened so fast and felt crazy! Oh and charged me - LOL - to fix the pain she had caused originally which made me laugh. Anyways, after this second incident, the pain soared to the worst pain of my life! I ended up in 9 out of 10 pain, to the point of literally fainting the next morning which led to me having to go on a serious opioid (Percocet) to control the pain. What a nightmare. I was in bed for two weeks, missing work, and had to miss an important trip and lost a lot of money. I let her know the details of what was going on and she was not sincere, helpful and never checked in with me again - wow. She told me I should just go see someone else for pain management even though it was her adjustment that did this. I had been going to her for years so I was surprised to see how little she cared. I cannot even imagine something like that happening to one of my clients and not feeling concerned enough to follow up with them. The whole scenario was pretty appalling and certainly a disgrace to the profession. I am still in pain two months later, although luckily it's more manageable now. I have since found a more skilled and caring chiropractor in the city who has a way more nuanced approach than crack-crack-pop and there's the door. Anyways, people- please be careful. I always thought the horror stories of chiropractors injuring patients was exaggerated but now I understand why many have this concern. read more
