This large ruin stands on a ridge overlooking the Taf river estuary, close to the town of Laugharne. The castle was built by the Normans in the 12th century and is now owned by Cadw (similar to the National Trust). Much of the castle survives, including two large towers and a gatehouse. It costs £3 to visit and there's a shop nearby where you can buy some souvenirs and a guide book. read more
