If you're coming here for food, don't. School cafe foods at Boston restaurant prices. I know it's a Comedy club, but if you open your doors at lunch time, and advertise lunch (no show), then guess what? You're a restaurant now. I actually went to the restaurant next door but it was packed! Instead of waiting for 45 minutes, we went to Laugh Boston, which was empty. When I say empty I mean there were 3 customers there. Not three groups. Just three people. I wondered, "Why would the place next door have a 45 minute wait, and here there's no one?" Then I found out. I came here with 3 others for a light lunch, thinking to grab some food and drinks before heading back to the Convention Center. We ordered Smothered Fries, Philly Cheese Steak Rolls, Onion Rings, Deep Fried Hotdogs, and BBQ chicken panini. The smothered fries didn't come with anything on it! the description said it's covered in poutine sauce...It came out plain with a tiny dipping cup. Like the ones you would find at Burger King or McDonald's. And the fries were cold! The hotdog advertised onions, peppers, pickles, and mustard. Came out plain. Nothing on it! The Philly rolls were undercook (needed another minute) so the shell was still soft/soggy. The panini was crazy dry and thin. There's hardly anything inside! The only thing there that taste like should were the drinks. If you're coming here for drinks, then fine. But if you're looking for food here, look elsewhere. read more

Came here to see "Shitfaced Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing". I thought it was really great! The show was hilarious. The show changes every week because one Shakespearean actor getting completely wasted before the show and attempting to complete the show all the same. And when they say Shitfaced - they mean SHITFACED. I would definitely go see the show again just to see what another actor would be like. The waitstaff was quick and attentive. The biggest problem this place has is the sound system. Granted, I do suffer from tinnitus but I'm not deaf. As soon as the MC said his first five words, I knew I was in trouble. His act, and those of the following comics, were unintelligible. I looked at my girlfriend to tell her and she says to me, "I can't understand a word he's saying." Guys, it's a comedy club. The comics want us to hear what they're saying. It sounded like the comics were talking to me over the phone. In a coffee can. Underwater. If I were a comic, I'd be pissed. I decided to take a chance on this place after reading the mixed reviews. I really wish I could give more than 2 stars but you'll see why in a second... The Good: The venue itself is located inside the Westin Hotel which is quite upscale. It is a nice big room, looks classy and the chairs were very comfy. I don't think its worth it to pay the extra for "premuim seating" that is advertised as it seemed to me anywhere in the large room has a good view of the stage. I listened to other reviewers and ate dinner before arriving for the 8:00pm show so I cannot comment on the quality of the food. We did have a few drinks and the service was okay, no complaints there at all. The Bad: Parking! Their website advertises 'plenty of street parking on summer street and validated parking for the hotel garage' but good luck getting a spot on the street. We then tried to park in the hotel garage but it was blocked off - parking was completely full we were told, and indeed the entire front of the hotel was packed full of cars. Had it not been for a nice valet guy who helped us we might just have turned around and not gone to the show. The downright UGLY: The actual comic. To say I disliked his act would be too kind. His entire 1hr set was one monotone topic about perverted sex with his bisexual wife. Okay we get it, you're twisted and proud of it, you got anything else to talk about? anything else at all? Listen, I'm no grouch, I appreciate a good joke about sex etc but the entire darn 1hr set? We were so bored I kept looking at my phone and trying to eye the waiter to bring our check. "That is an hour of my life I wish I could get back" my husband said to me as we left. I'm sure there is an audience for this kind of crude comedy and indeed ~60% of the audience were in fits of laughter most of the time with the other 40% in my category - mostly quiet and letting out an awkward laugh every now then to make ourselves feel better about just throwing away $25 on a ticket for this junk. Think of the class and skill and sophisticated quality of the kind of comics you see on a show like NBC's the last comic standing - this dude was the complete opposite - crass comedy. I will probably not go out of my way to go back here. I will return quietly to my favorite spot to laugh - the Comedy Studio in Harvard Sq. It may not have the glitz and glam of Laugh Boston @ the Westin, but the quality of comedy is a 1000 times better. read more

I was here for Karaoke or Die. To be frank, I know next to zilch about songs. I was living under a rock all these years. With that in mind, I'm solely basing this on entertainment value. I have absolutely no idea if the judging correlates to talent or not. I was entertained indeed by the comedians who were the judges and the host. The daring contestants also gave me laughs here and there with their grooves. It was pretty engaging the whole time like going to the ball game and not having any clue what's going on in the field with the crowd cheering on. There was a cocktail server throughout the event. She wasn't quit on top of things as we had to wave her down at times in the dark. Ok pours with reasonable prices. Drinks don't come with napkins; I had to ask the drink runner for cocktail napkins. Comedy is fine, drinks are ok, but the service is HORRIBLE. I have never been treated so poorly, especially for no reason. We got there about 15 minutes before the show started and there was almost no seating available without a reserved sign on it. We ended up sitting behind a pole that completely obstructed our view. About 10 minutes into the show, we asked a staff member if we could move over to a section with reserved signs, but about 30 open seats. The kid working said he wasn't sure, but would check. A woman then came over and rudely said "Is there a problem over here?" and told us we could not move, even though there were so many open seats. I would have expected someone to politely explain why we couldn't sit there (even though seats remained open throughout the whole show), rather than get defensive over a simple question. I also witnessed several other people move seats, and one person even get kicked out when he didn't want to move because he couldn't find another available seat. I am appalled and disgusted at the way management allows it's customers to be treated, and I would tell others to stay away from this place. There are far better venues in Boston that actually value having customers keep them in business. read more

The setting and atmosphere were very good. Comedy clubs can sometimes be beer-soaked. The menu is very limited, but I guess when you're there to laugh and not to eat, that's what happens. My Son-in-law brought me to Laugh Boston for the first time that I had gone. I was very impressed with the clean and trendy style. The location to me is very nice. It is along the water seaside and there are many restaurants right in walking distance. If I wanted to rate them as a restaurant, well I have to say it would not be fair to do so as if you are looking for fine dining, there are a list of good places in the area. But I have to say that the food is short of even what I would expect for the venue. And drinks,well I kinda get the feeling that they are either under staffed, or they are trying to curtail any "Drunk Behavior" Both times that I have been the same could be said regarding food and slow drink service. The staff is very friendly and kind however. But again, I am not going to any comedy show for the food. Hopefully they will pick it up on the drink service (I would have given 5 stars for better drink service) Regarding the comedy acts; first time I had gone I seen Dom Irrera and he was hysterical! The other folks were okay, it seemed to escalate from the opener to the main act. The second time I went with a group of 8 and we were celebrating our friend's birthday. The host made sure to see that we were seated in the front and center. Paul D'Angelo was the main act...and let me tell you; he was "I thought that we were going to die laughing" funny! As soon as we revealed that our friend was celebrating a birthday it was on! Paul went on like this 20 minute tangent were he incorporated every commonly used abbreviation known to man into a maddening diatribe which brought the house down! So as far as the shows go, and that is the main reason we go to a comedy show, is for the shows; the shows were great! Great bang for your buck! I ended up purchasing cheap GA tickets the day of for a Saturday show at 9PM. We got there about 8:30 but the doors didn't open until about half past 9. Luckily we were there early enough to be at the front of the line because it was open seating. We got the first 2 seats at a high top in the middle of the room and we had a great view of the stage. There were 3 opening acts for the main comic and they were ALL HILARIOUS! Every single one was just as funny if not funnier than the main act. The main act was Paul Virzi and he put on a great set. This was an awesome show and even better that we didn't spend a fortune on tickets. I would definitely come back. Only complaint is that they said to come an hour before doors open (9pm) and they actually didn't open the doors until half past 9. read more

The headliner tonight (Jessimae Peluso) had me laughing for so long that my cheeks started to hurt. She was hilarious but kept it real throughout the show. She has so much potential. As far as the venue... It was great. I've only been to a handful of comedy clubs so I don't know what more one could ask for. Seating arrangements are good, inside is clean, service was good. Based on what I've learned from other clubs so far is food isn't a top priority, so I didn't bother getting food during my visit. I did however try a margarita and appreciated the fact that it was made good and strong. Didn't taste / nor see signs of margarita mix which is always huge for me. Of all the things you could do in Boston this should definitely up there on the list. Memorable and totally affordable. Have never posted a yelp review but had for these guys. It's a great mid-size room, so if you're a comedy fan you'll like it much better than a big theater. Drinks are fairly priced. They get pretty good names and headliners from around the country. They also won't try and rip you off. I called recently to upgrade a ticket from general admission to premium, and the box office said that it was going to be a light show and they didn't want to upsell me when I'd be getting good seats anyways. I appreciate this kind of honesty Overall, there aren't a lot of comedy clubs in Boston that are only about 200 seats. There's tiny open mics in bars, and big theaters like the Wilbur or the giant stadium in Mansfield (terrible for comedy IMO), so I really enjoy that Laugh Boston gets headliners in a more intimate room. We had a pretty good time here. It is a bit out of the way unless you happen to be staying in Seaport. It was only about 25% full on a Friday night. 2 out of the 3 comedians were good, including the headliner. Not the most comfortable seating but that is not uncommon in some of these clubs. I went to the gong show last night with some friends. The staff was friendly but not quite as attentive as I would hope. This may be in part because while the show is going on it is difficult to navigate to the tables and communicate with people. I ordered some food and it was pretty good. The chicken parm sandwich was delicious actually. The rest of the food was just so-so. As for the atmosphere, this place is fun. It has the feel of a night club, which I was surprised by. Perhaps one of the most miserable shows that I've had to sit through. Located at the Westin Hotel, a group of us came here to see "All the Single Ladies" as part of our bachlorette festivities. The venue consists of a pretty decent sized bar and a theatre with a small stage. Good luck if you're sitting at one of the shorter tables off to the side because the pole blocks your vision of whatever is going on in the center. We weren't missing out on much, but moved ourselves to one of the high tops anyways. Despite being ten minutes late, we walked into a half full venue and it quickly became apparent why. It looked like the four guys on stage slapped on some female clothes and a wig and got ready five minutes before the show. The 1.5 hour long production consisted of some corny, painful jokes that were meant to be raunchy and creative, but ended up flat and uninspired. Worst, the 'star' of the night was a half naked man with a bear head that came out repeatedly to entertain during the long and frequent dance intermissions. I felt ripped off by the $40 a person ticket to see an uncreative, poorly put together performance. This D list show is certainly not a good representation of what Boston has to offer for comedy! read more

My son and I went to see Mike Rapport at Laugh last Sunday night. Must say the comedy was great; better than I expected. Most impressive is the service of the staff. It is a really busy place but each member of the staff I encountered was conscientious and did the best they could to deliver food and drinks in a timely and polite manner. The venue is great. Clean, easy to access and a great balance between being big enough so you get the energy of the crowd, but small enough so that it feels intimate and like you can connect with the talent. This place sits inside the Westin hotel near the convention center in South Boston and unless you knew it was tucked away back here, you would miss it. However, the place is one of the largest comedy venues I have seen and the acts are one of a kind. The night we visited it was all women comedy acts and for $15 a person, we caught 6 women acts and every one was hilarious. Not sure about the food in this place because all we ordered was drinks, which in fact were not great and actually tasted really bad, some sort of pineapple weird tasting junk. Prices were a bit steep but it was expected. Service was okay and they do have enough service to spread around. I would come here again, especially for the laughs. The venue is good for the area and there is a couple of bars next door, if you want to pay $7 for a small beer at MJ OConnors. The venue is large, but good when it is full like the time I went last night to see Colin Kane. He was very funny, the main problem is the sound is very muffled, people were complaining but nothing was fixed. It is not fair to the crowd or the comedian. Went to the 10 o'clock show last Saturday night March 12th. Bought the premium tickets to sit by the stage. The audio was horrible. Could not understand half of what the comedian was saying due to the audio front speakers being off. Ask the manager twice if he could please turn on the front speakers so we could understand what the comedians were saying but never did. Was explained to me later that they are redoing the audio later date. Could hear the comedian's clearly in the bathroom but not up front to the stage. The whole night was us trying to understand what the comedian just said. Horrible experience would not recommend going anytime soon. read more

I attended the soft opening of Laugh Boston and I will definitely be back. The sampling of comics we saw were great, many will be doing full shows later in the year that I want to go to and bring friends and family. It was the perfect entertainment option for a casual night out; great for couples or groups who want more than just a night at a bar but not to be stuck in a theater all night. I loved the location- excellent choice for a show after dinner or I could see going to an early show then drinks after. Great job with the venue- intimate but not crowded, separate bar area outside the seating area for mingling with the comedians after the show, creative layout so there is not a bad seat in the house, and the audio is piped into the bathrooms so I didn't miss a thing! The drink list is creative and on-par price-wise for the area, between $9-15 for cocktails. Snack selection was better than your average bar fare. A great start for Laugh Boston! read more

This was the Mother's Day special event, "haha Mama". It was terrific! There wasn't a big audience, but it was very comfortable. The comedians were hilarious. After the show, which was almost 2 hours, people were commenting about how they were laughing so hard. They have a show of women comedians once a month from Sept. to May. Went opening night---what. a. let. down. It was my first event by Laugh Boston, and I'm afraid I'll be my last. I'm fairly certain I was seated next to a person who was "planted" to laugh b/c she laughed where there was nothing to laugh at. I checked myself as I soaked in the experience. I wanted to make sure I wasn't being too hard on the MC or the opening act, so I looked around to see who else wasn't laughing. To my surprise, there was barely anyone laughing. A 5 min intermission after the first act and I left... along with others. You'd think opening night in a new venue the company would actually bring in good acts, but i guess not. they were content with the people who were from the area and made fun of their home. Honestly --I don't think many people like to go a comedy show to hear jokes about where they live. One or two is good, but the ENTIRE SET? .. yeah no. The Venue is gorgeous--great idea to have host escorted seating, even better that you can order food and it's not all fried. I went here last night to see the "Humor Me: The Betches of Comedy" show and I had a blast! The show itself was hilarious and the venue definitely was not what I was expecting! It is right in the Westin hotel behind MJ O'Connor's and City Bar. Our show didn't start until 9:45 and it was kind of a bummer we couldn't get into the venue before that to have a drink because another show was going on, so we grabbed a drink at MJ's which is always a great spot. Seating at Laugh Boston is first come, first serve- so it was nice to get in line early anyway. All of the seats have tables and the wait staff is super attentive. We all got beers and split some pretzels which were decent (the cheese sauce was a little weird though). All in all it was a great night and I will definitely be coming back!! read more

I would give this more stars for the comedy but Laugh Boston is a joke. I have been here several times and waited in ridiculous lines despite the fact that the website says the lounge/bar is open an hour ahead and the main room is open 30 minutes prior to the show. The bar has one bartender serving customers so prepare to wait or head to your table to wait. The comedians are good but not sure why it's so difficult to get folks in and get a drink.... P.S. Don't plan on parking at the Westin - the garage is always full. read more
