It's going to cost money either way. So much better to spend the money on a lawyer who will get you your rights. There's no way I would have gotten through this without them. We were unmarried so it went to Cuyahoga Juvenile Court instead of Domestic Relations. I never could have navigated this without Eric, he was my second and final lawyer. Opposing side went through 5 lawyers and most of them quit. I began with no rights in the state of Ohio as an unmarried father, despite having an affidavit of paternity, despite her having been convicted of Child Endangerment, and despite supporting this woman, her son, our daughter, and my son for 3 years in Cuyahoga County. The results: A shared parenting plan, not perfect, but which avoided a costly trial and hit the major points (Eric could have easily charged me to go to trial as he was fully prepared for it, but didn't): I have primary custody in Ohio, school residency, final medical/dental decisions, no child support. I have to discuss all matters with her before making final decisions. She gets visitation, supervised by her parents, two weekends per month, one out of state and one in OH; half of the summer/winter breaks. She is responsible for all travel costs. In Cuyahoga County for a single father, this is close to a miracle. Things I learned: Documentation. Evidence gathering became my second career. It's absolutely maddening; like reliving the nightmare, but the truth came out in a clear manner as a result. They didn't use my texts and emails in court, but they were reviewed by the GALs and psychiatrists who were able to get a firm picture of what was going on. I created timelines, noted important event dates, I must have had 50 spreadsheets going. I got lost in my own mountain of evidence, but somehow it all helped all these strangers understand the big picture. It was this big picture which finally got me my daughter. Called to get a second legal opinion, I spoke with a female on the phone. After asking multiple sensitive questions and giving her opinion to me, I ask a simple question, to which she said she did not know the answer. That sounded strange, so I asked if she was a lawyer, and she said no. Then she started to backtrack, saying that if I already have active representation I could not get a second opinion from their firm. As a non-attorney gatekeeper, you should not go asking unnecessary details. Simply ask straightforward basic questions and connect the caller to a lawyer, or state upfront that your firm does not give second opinions if the caller already has a lawyer. What a waste of time. I used this law firm to establish my parental rights and get a shared parenting plan. My attorney was Rachel Gerecke the only tactic she uses is pandering to the lowest common denominator and she never actually tried to help me get custody of my child. She has no backbone. Thankfully the Gaurdian ad litem saw through both attorneys and the magistrate. Though Rachel did nothing but pad the books and have give her all sorts of personal information that she never presented in court she billed me for $22,000 in charges!These people a shameless Scammers! The lawyer I got didn't do as I asked, kept ignoring me. Then supposedly did all this "work" which was basically her padding the books so I would have to pay her more. Then I never received the bills so they charged me an extra 5% on my bill which was over $2300 for a simple dissolution of a marriage. No kids, no assets to split just sign on the dotted line. The she didn't even show up for court but sent someone else instead. The billing lady is the MOM and every time I tried to settle bills before she couldn't figure out the computer system. Probably another reason I got screwed. Stay away from here. read more

This is a review of their staff; not their attorneys I needed to ask one question to determine whether I should call child protective services. However the secretary who answered the phone first asked, "do you live in this county" When I said no she informed me that they would not answers questions for people with no potential for financial relationships. And yes, that's exactly how she worded it. I asked: isn't Ohio law the same all across the state - I just have a question about the law. At which point she hung up on me. So needless to say they may be good lawyers.. However if they trained their staff to respond that way I'm suspicious it's more about money to them then people. Guess the secretary forgot that I'm still a person who had a valid child safety question and that I still have the ability to review her incredibly rude behavior. Ironically, two days I had to give an estimate that took an hour and I didn't get paid for it. However when you take a job serving people.. it should at some point be because you want to serve people. read more

I have never seen an Attorney like Cara Santosuosso, always comment on how pathetic an Attorney she is, to always cover herself by not admitting how how horrific she really is. She RUINED our children's lives, by not doing her homework on which I furnished her with a ton of documented information via teachers, Dr's, psychiatric help etc, to show how horrible of a mother my ex was to our children. Instead she thought it would be in HER best interest to separate our 9 year old son & 10 year old daughter, 2'000 miles away from each other. "Temporarily ". It's now been 15 months. Cara has an ego as high as the sky. Does not care about her client, rather cares about herself. Was intimidated by a 74 year old Attorney with a mean temper. This Attorney in the Cleveland circle is referred to by many as a wimp, and a bully towards Female Attorneys. Well Cara was another victim. I'm sure she will rebuttal, with some fabricated excuse, as she seems to always with negative feedback from prior clients. Don't be fooled by her ratings. We had Jennifer Hanes as a Guardian Ad Litem on our case. At first, she seemed like she knew what she was doing. She came to the house, something most attorneys or guardians do not do, even though it is required under Rules of Superintendence 48. She was provided a plethora of information about our case, including access to, and requesting that she speak with the therapist we were ordered to see by the court, but mom refused to go to. Mom signed two separate orders, and blew them both off. This should have been an open and shut case. Jennifer started screwing up by not properly investigating an allegation made by the mother, who essentially threw the child under the bus and blamed her. Jennifer then went into court and stated her false findings to the court. Jennifer's take on it was completely inaccurate as further investigation has uncovered. Her job was essentially to reunite the child with her father, and in 11 months on the job, only arranged a grand total of 11 hours of visitation time, including absolutely nothing for 8 months. Then as the holidays were approaching, the child actually wanted to spend time with her father. What did Jennifer do? She withdrew from the case, leaving the child without any legal representation or any other way to contact her father. The child has suffered emotional and verbal abuse at the hands of her mother and attorney, but Jennifer attempted to suppress that fact in her motion to withdraw. The mother subsequently blocked all access for the child to interact with her father. We had to call Jennifer on the carpet two separate times to get her to define her role and why she was not doing what she was supposed to be doing. Her answer was usually an acknowledgement that we were right about what she was supposed to be doing, and an "I don't know" as to why she was not doing it. In court, she seemed to indicate some sort of loyalty to the opposing attorney, Joe Stafford. Even the slightest indication of such, should be grounds for removal. Then, after her withdrawal from the case, two months later, she indicated she wanted to return to the case, and presented the parties with a pending journal entry that addressed her outstanding fees, and nothing else. We did not receive all the bills we were supposed to get, and of the bills we did get, there were items on there that we know for a fact were never done. We didn't even know she switched firms, as we were never told. We had to do an internet search to find her. We have attempted to contact her, and she has refused to take our calls or respond to emails. She states the bill is the issue of her former employer, and will not address any of it. read more
