She has taken care of several matters that our family needed guidance to handle. She also has an excellent staff.

We sought Ms Schraff out having heard about her expertise and reputation which were high. I made…read morethe arrangements on behalf of my elder father. Ms. Schraff, under the guise of ethical concerns, which I totally agreed with and understood, met privately with my father who is rather naive when it comes to these complicated matters of the times we live in. Rather than ASK him if he wanted to include me in their meeting, they met privately so that I could not be sure all concerns were addressed. I also was foolish and communicated with her prior to share some background of our family circumstances and my concerns...this seemed to color, imo, her attitude toward me, painting me as the potentially exploitative daughter and nothing could be further than that. During the course of things, as she prepared the routine will, and POA's etc, some questions came up that I sent to her via email. While she did provide some preliminary guidelines about fees that was signed off on, I was totally shocked to see bills come through for "Read, Review and Respond" to emails I had sent. It may be acceptable, but I found it unconscionable to be of so little assistance on behalf of a client. Once I got a bill I limited all communication with her. At the end of things I felt advance planning was not well explained or discussed, and she ever so sweetly offered to further meet with u$$$$. In fact, I called to clarify that the fee to review the papers and sign them was included before we would ever step foot in her office again...some of the work was in draft form, but others could be signed with a notary which we could do at no cost at AAA. It took, as I recall THREE DAYS and multiple calls on my part to get a response to that simple question until the last when I pointed out our appointment was the next day or that afternoon and I/we were not coming unless I/we had an answer. I warned my father not to ask any questions at all, to sign only, dare we incur additional fees. And in the end because of concerns about my mother who has dementia, we wound up with another certified attorney closer to home who was OUTSTANDING. Although, from a professional/peer standpoint it was clear she didn't want to pursue and recourse, she nearly immediately in her brief review of the work that had been done found a huge error that required us to pay AGAIN to have the same work /form done. Although it was as I recall several hundred hard-earned dollars, it didn't seem worth having to deal with Ms Schraff again. Her former partner and she recently parted ways resulting in the creation of a new firm which provided us the opportunity to have the work she had done transferred to our new attorney who is wonderful.

I would give a zero star rating if possible…read more I asked Jeff Black to help me with a OSHA death case for my father in 2014. He accepted the case and signed the paperwork along side me in his office. He claimed with his experience that the case would go to trial between 6-9 months. He also told me that I would not see the inside of a courtroom on such a touchy subject. Which I did not have to do, due to legal negligence. At my fathers funeral, I was approached by a lawyer who handed me a card to render his services. I declined, thinking that I was going through enough with the unexpected death of my father. I was later informed by family and the iron workers union that I had no choice but to hire a lawyer. I chose Jeff Black because he was a member of the community I grew up in. He was a baseball coach along side my father and knew myself and younger brother. It felt like I'd be in good hands when it came to this difficult case. After 4 plus months of seeking answers with his consul, I was finding it difficult to get any answers. I had to go to the hospital to retrieve my fathers death records on my own. Walking through the building was traumatic in and of itself. I retrieved the additional birth/death certificates myself to aid in moving the case along faster. After 5 or 6 months of this he, sublets my case out to a lawyer in Cleveland. The reason for outsourcing was because he waited too long to file and the best case scenario was to file torte. I was not privy enough to be afforded this information early enough to do anything about it. our case was at the mercy of OSHA and lasted 3 years. This was pre covid so I'd like to know why. When it all ended I was happy with his too late referral. His associate from another law firm helped me more and showed more compassion for my case than Jeff Black could fathom. That fit me fine and I was happy to carry on with my life. 2015: my ex ( who had not paid child support) came at me for full (temporary) custody. He did this because he knew I was seeing someone else. I, once again, asked Jeff for help. He told me that it was a conflict of interest and could not represent me. No referral this time. My ex did receive a referr from Carla H at his firm. Mind you, the case with my fathers death was still not resolved. She threatened/bullied me in the same office I came to sign off on my fathers death case. It was almost instantly denied by the lake county courts. The final nail in the coffin was that she prepped for a trial and not a pretrial. The judge sent them away with option for negotiations. I declined paid an outside lawyer $2,000 while still mourning the death of my father. 2020: My ex again applied for temporary custody. He was awarded it this time because of affidavits signed by family members that haven't seen our son in years. This was a successful attempt to never have to pay child support. Here we are 7 years later and Jeff is offering "free" legal advice to my adversary. My lawyer and the GAL threatened to raise conflict. The case never went to trial because the judge thought it wasn't worth while. The documents I currently have show $140,000 in excess UNDOCUMENTED income for the ex. It also shows that this "lawyer" has consistently sketchy business practices and is not a family man. please do yourself a favor and avoid this business at all costs. I found better help and so can you.
