Have to say, we are massive fans of Barocca - it's a staple visit whenever we visit Luz. Located on…read morethe same street as other favourite Ondaluz, it's a great place for both pre & post dinner cocktails and drinks. On past trips, we have visited both for said cocktails and the all you can eat bbq buffet they put on during the summer months. It really is a feast to behold and everything is cooked directly in front of you in the small barbecue at the top of the steps. However, on our most recent holiday, we were only there with one thing in mind - the wedding of the other half's auntie. Taking place on a Saturday afternoon for the ceremony and following party, we were pleased that the sun had started to go in and they provided plenty of outdoor cover for those who wanted in. The small ceremony area looked lovely, and there were sunflowers dotted about the place. The food provided was absolutely delicious. Although buffet style - I assumed that, if serving myself, I probably wouldn't go for much due to the heat of Luz - I found myself piling my plate right up! There was a thai chicken curry which was absolutely delicious, and a kind of beef stew (or perhaps Scouse, seeing as much of the party were from Liverpool...nice touch!), along with some seafood for those who wanted it, and a lovely duck and chorizo paella. Safe to say, I was stuffed! Staff coped well with the activities that ensued i.e. plenty of dancing and many spilled drinks on said dancefloor, but they got involved and didn't appear to be too fussed! Service at the bar was speedy throughout the evening, with spirits, wine, cider and beer flying out. A friendly place to spend some time!

I have been coming here for 35 years and it has been consistently one of the most wonderful…read morerestaurants in Lagos. It had such an amazing vibe with it's rustic interior, soft candlelight and this amazing soundtrack of 40s and 50s jazz. I would pay handsomely to buy that soundtrack. Listening to Louis Armstrong, Billy Holiday, etc. while eating, always delicious, food was an experience to look forward to. Sadly the business was sold a few years back and as often happens the owners decided to make changes to an iconic establishment with a loyal clientele. The beautiful music has been replaced with loud disco and rock music and the once great food is not as good as it once was. To their credit they have kept the same menu. A bad meal or two can be forgiven as there can be problems with kitchen staff but the way they destroyed the ambiance, which was the cornerstone of the establishment, can not. I could hardly finish my meal with that music blasting. Back in the day it was difficult to get a reservation but now you can just walk in and get a table. It's easy to see why. Another great business ruined by new owners making "improvements ". Unhappily, I will not be returning.

I decided to try it and drug a friend along and man was it tasty! The service was spot on and the photos show how cozy and warm the interior of the restaurant looks. It feels just as welcoming. We didn't have reservations so they had us wait. Attached is a hidden room called "The Library" super cool (see photos). We ordered wine and an appetizer and I would have been happy to eat dinner in this area. The food was so delicious, the garlic kale dish was so tasty and perfectly seasoned that I had to go look in a grocery store for a similar product. YUM. The steak was delicious and we decided two deserts...glad we did...delicious...go for it. I usually don't order dessert but it is worth the calories here!!! Yum, go, if you don't you're missing out. It is a bit hidden but worth trying to find. Also, the craft brewery across the alley is super cool to pop in for a drink before or after dinner.
