Lo and behold, this place does. Unfortunately, I didn't end up trying it because I think they ran out around the time we came in (bit after lunch time). We chatted with the owner a bit, who was really friendly and told us how she was inspired by her travels to Hawaii to open this place up and offer poke. The katsu chicken was delicious. I liked the fresh salmon roll I got, but the sushi rice fell apart very easily, not like real sushi rice at all. There was complementary hot tea, although I wished there was water. Since Yelp is still beginning to take off in Australia, I had to use another site to find reviews on ODBC, most of which were good although they appeared to have recently had some issues with "rude staff." The reviews for the food, however, were largely positive and so we decided to stop in. The establishment itself is an old church which has remained mostly untouched. Built with solid wood featuring high ceilings and the typical old-fashioned church windows which remind me of the Baptist churches in "The South" of the States. While you wait for your food to be ready, you can mill around the back where there are racks of vintage clothes, dishes, furniture and various other interesting knick-knacks, all collected carefully and in pristine condition. Want to try something on? Step into the confessional booth-turned-fitting-room. Our Daily Bread Cafe did a brilliant job of utilizing all of the available space of this beautiful old building. There is even outside patio seating, which it was a beautiful day for. Onto the food! Unfortunately I did not take a photo of the menu and can't find one online anywhere, but this was a meal I could never forget. My husband and I both chose a bruschetta-type plate, in different styles. He selected a "Hawaiian" plate that had ham, pineapple and swiss cheese. I had the LOADED one. Chorizo, all kinds of capsicum, onion, cheese..... this thing was to die for. We both agreed this was some of the best food we'd had in almost 2 months of traveling. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the employees are very polite. The coffee is rich and strong without being bitter, and can be reduced down if needed. The smoothies are pristine (recommend the cookies & cream smoothie to satisfy your sweet tooth. The place is truly incredible and an absolute recommendation from me. Last time we came here, you could see whales from the cafe, so if you come here in the right season, you may be able to see a pod of whales or dolphins if you're lucky. Be sure to stop by here for a quick stop or even a meal!

This cafe has a broad range of sandwiches and pastries, a full breakfast menu and daily lunch specials. Local staff are very friendly and helpful and more than accommodating to changes in order. The coffee is just as good as the Campos coffee you can get downtown (although I definitely should have ordered an extra shot into my large coffee as I found there was a bit too much milk for my liking.) The menu was one page and they used a large font so our party's thoughts were that with such little to choose from it all must all be good. We were very wrong. Then there were the mains: Two of the Crispy skinned duck with a bit of what looked like bok choi sitting on a mash/pure of some kind. It tasted like a microwave dinner, that is to say- not worth going out to eat for at all. And then a batter fish meal- couldn't even beat the fish and chips from the Main Street in quality and way more expensive! Minimal meals priced way higher then they were worth, the staff were friendly so we really couldn't say anything and just walked out with our stomachs very unsatisfied and our wallets much, much lighter. Don't be deterred by the fact that The Block is part of the local backpackers hostel. If I've learnt anything from country towns the most bizarre place can surprise you. Being from "the big smoke" it's nice to come to a place that serves actual coffee! They brew Campos beans and it's made expertly by the baristas. Their brunch is also the best in town, served up until 11am. The Eggs Benedict is my personal favourite as they know how to make proper Hollandaise sauce, although I always ask for it on the side because they put too much on for my liking. There is a nice outdoor seating area which is the best place to sit because the inside can get a bit crowded with kids as there's a play corner. They do a lunch menu and a dinner menu but I haven't been there for either of those meals because the breakfast is just too good. You'll see a whole range of people at The Block from backpackers and tourists to local families and fishermen. Make sure you check it out when you come to Yamba!
