Such a great little gem!!!

WOW!!! What a gem!!! Excellent food, personalized service, clean and cozy. Great music. 23 years this local restaurant has been serving the community. Such awesome owners. We felt like we were having dinner at a family home. Definitely a great choice

Cuban sandwich with rice and black beans

I was in town from out of state and Rocco the owner of the neighboring Alternative Insurance treated me to his favorite lunch spot "Latin Cafe" He asked I f I had ever had a Cuban sub/sandwich. I had only had a Cuban cheese-steak in Miami. So this being my first Cuban sandwich, not knowing how they are supposed to be, to me it was good, moist and tender ham and pork meat w/ Swiss cheese, mustard & pickles in a hot-pressed Cuban bread loaf diag. cut. I had also ordered a side of rice and black beans. Tasty lunch and w/ sides was too much for one meal, so I had it for dinner too!!!

My bf really wanted me to eat a Cuban from here. He used to frequent this place back in the day. It was pretty good. They were super nice when we finally got them on the phone after calling for quite sometime.

Food was pretty good. Enjoyed the tacos and some other dishes. Service was a little slow that would be my only complaint

You order and pay at the counter. The daily specials are on a blackboard. The regular menu is on the wall above where you order. The man behind the counter was most patient with all of us trying to figure out what we wanted. For the table, we started with chicharonnes. The fried pork skin/pork belly was the best I'd ever had. The outside skin was perfectly crisped and there was enough meat inside each piece to satisfy. We also shared an order of sorullitos. I'd never had these before. They were long cylinders of fried corn meal fritters. Both dishes were served fresh and piping hot. The kids both ordered Cuban sandwiches and wound up eating only half as it was a large portion. One side came with the sandwich and they both had tostones. The adults tried pernil (roast pork), ropa vieja (shredded beef), shrimp in garlic sauce, and chicken stew (pollo guidado). Each main dish came with two sides. The yellow rice with pigeon peas (gandules) was a popular choice. The sweet plantains were caramelized and very sweet. The tostones were fresh -- crisp on the outside and soft inside. We had four take home boxes. And too full for dessert. If you're looking for great Puerto Rican cuisine in this area, don't be put off by the casual surroundings. The food here is wonderful.

It can get pretty loud inside, especially when the restaurant is busy, so just something to keep in mind if you prefer a quieter dining experience. We ordered the churrasco tostones rellenos, carne guisada with maduros, and churrasco with arroz con gandules. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. We came during a very busy time, so service was a little slower than expected, but our server was doing her best and was very kind despite how busy it was.

However, based on my experience, I felt the food and pricing didn't quite live up to expectations. The presentation was decent, and I can appreciate the effort that went into the dishes. Unfortunately, once you consider the prices, the overall experience becomes harder to justify. The food, while perfectly acceptable, was fairly middle-of-the-road for me and didn't stand out enough to warrant the price point. There are other options in the area offering similar, prepared Latino food at a lower price, including grocery-store options such as Bravo, and I found some of those to be comparable to what I experienced here. I genuinely wanted to enjoy the restaurant, and I hope this is taken as constructive feedback. For me, though, the combination of the food quality and the prices made it difficult to feel that the overall value was there.

Service was super friendly and helpful - they made us feel right at home! We ordered the carne asada con tostones ($16), empanadas ($2.25 each), chorizo con arepa ($5), and the sancocho soup special ($14.50), and everything was delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The empanadas were crispy and well-seasoned, and the chorizo was wonderful. But the highlight had to be the sancocho soup. It was so flavorful and filling. If they have it when you go, don't skip it! Highly recommend checking this place out if you're craving authentic Colombian food. I'll definitely be back!

When I sat down and read the little menu card of desserts they had on every table and notice tiramisu was offered I was wildly skeptical. But that is where it ended. What an amazing and authentic Colombian restaurant. I ordered the beans and rice with Maduros and everything was perfect! You may know Colombian food is very heavy otherwise I would have liked to order more but I had to save a little room for dessert. One true sign of an authentic Colombian restaurant is their breads (Pan de bono was served and it was amazing) and their dessert. Not tiramisu but brevas con queso. This is truly Colombian and is great when you can find it. This is a nice and clean restaurant with real Colombian food. I highly recommend it.
