Stop, going in to businesses and demanding they do the work for next to nothing, then writing a bad review because it didn't turn out as you would've liked. When you do this, you miss out on top quality work. If you choose to fish around for budget finds, just walk away, when you are sent away. I'd rather have to pay a little more, for quality than to be scammed because they know I will just pay below the bill for a minimum outcome. I mentioned the airbag warning came on, he immediately said he can't touch it, that, that's something you want to take to the dealer and make sure it's not a recall, that I don't want to void the warranty or have something go wrong, that could've been easy money, instead he honestly said no. How can you be upset about that. So if you're told no, except that it's a good thing. Finally, on big purchases, as I was taught by my dad, fix it right the first time. Went to this shop to fix an issue with my front axel. Confirmed with Hank before dropping it off if it was work they could complete there. He said yes, and was happy to get me in there the next day. I informed him it was an entire assembly (Specifically front driver and passenger side). He quoted me under $200 for the work as I'd be providing the parts. Within an hour of looking at the vehicle he calls and nearly doubles the price stating he thought he was only doing 1 side. He got a quick $50 for less than an hours work, but I guess that's how he does business. Lost a potential long term customer here. my 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan went into LIMP mode, ( as safety feature that detects Transmission problems and only allows the vehicle to accel to 30mph so you can drive it to a shop or fix it yourself). I had a transmission slip code displayed and was in a pinch to get it fixed before I had to smog my vehicle. I called various shops in the Stockton area and they all pointed me to Hank. I called Hank and he walked me through all of my options to get it fixed. Running into a holiday weekend, I decided to go with a rebuilt unit. I was also having an issue with what I thought was a rear main seal leak so I also had him replace that as well since the transmission was out. Hank had my car back to me in two days and even showed up to the shop during his time off (with his family) to give me my car back. I took my truck to have my transmission rebuilt. The estimate was $1400. The price was the determining factor. He said it would be completed in five working days. It took nearly two weeks. Every time i spoke to him. It seemed like the price kept going up. Hank seemed to be a nice guy. After we agreed to the price. He had me buy transmission fluid from walmart. I guess it wasn't factored in the price. I thought of that odd. Then he told me the rear brakes were locking up. He told me he had the same problem with another customer previous to me. I believe he didn't give the emergency break enough slack. When you seperate the tranny from the engine. The brake cable has to be loosened. Perhaps re-installing the cable he over tightened it.that locked up the breaks. Regardless now the price is $2200. I'm disappointed.i wished he would of told me that in the beginning.
