We could not possible be more happy with the care and attention our child receives daily, weekly, monthly and through this entire first year. We were at a cross-roads of school choice and after meeting with the ladies (yes, all ladies in this school), they have turned our introvert into a wonderfully expressive extrovert. We couldn't return to their last school because it was clear that the only thing the old school wanted was $$ donations, $7,500 in tuition, AND 2.5 hours of "school" a day - is not helpful to any child. Alternatives has Trained Specialists in EVERY classroom, and these ladies love all their kids equally. The other "school" had only a few women who had 'some' professional teaching education, but most do not. At Alternatives, they have Trained Therapists in every single class, and offer Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy and much more, AND the school day is from 9 am - 2:30 pm, so parents can accomplish things they need to get done, and they offer aftercare from 2:30 - 3:00. Members are generally very satisfied with the many services and programs. The fitness center is well equipped and supervised and is kept in excellent operating condition. There are plenty of TVs with convenient connectivity to those working out. The main gym is large and accommodating to team soccer, basketball , archery and pickleball. Pickleball nets are easily assembled and the gym weekday mornings welcome free open pickleball. The locker rooms and bathrooms are very clean. There is an on-site excellent physical therapist in the fitness area, who is my go to PT expert, Mr. Matthew Mobius. On the negative side, the building is in much need of a tune up. The SYS Administration does not have a consistent record of friendly and responsive management. The front desk may be staffed with poorly supervised youth doing mandated community service. The squash court walls are particularly beat up, in immediate need of repair. Parking is often lacking due to the strong popularity of SYS. Unfortunately the facility lacks an indoor pool. SYS is an important part of the Hamptons and there is really nothing else nearby that offers such a varied and affordable sports venue. The nearest YMCA has an excellent indoor pool and is located in East Hampton.
