This is a very quintessential bar for my University on Wednesdays, and with the school year ending…read moresoon I had to go! They have deals on Wednesdays called 'Mug Club'. If you bring in one of their plastic mugs you get $3 beers on tap from their selection. It is the best deal and something super easy for a Wednesday! You can easily walk here on Wasson Way which is super nice, especially when the weathers nice. They have a great outdoor patio with a ton of seating, heaters, and covers in case it rains. Their inside if nice with a cool upstairs for more room. The best part about this spot is that they have a popcorn machine in the back that you can serve yourself, free of charge! I come here for the free popcorn alone, it is so good! This place is super great and such a fun and different experience, with a great mug of whatever your preferred drink is and some fresh and salty popcorn!

We rented the upstairs space for a 40th birthday party and it was truly perfect for what we needed…read more The room is spacious, and they provide a large table so you can set up food, gifts, whatever you need. Even better, the space is free to rent, which is such a huge bonus! There are multiple TVs upstairs, and the staff was great about changing the channels on a few so we could watch a specific football game. Little touches like that made the night even better. The only downside was the bar situation downstairs. Knowing there was a large party booked, I really wish they had staffed more bartenders. Our guests mentioned that it was taking quite a while to get drinks, and eventually a few people ended up going next door instead. Overall, though, the space itself was fantastic and worked out great for the party, just hoping next time they're better staffed for big events!

Stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon - We loved the self-serve experience of choosing from…read moremultiple beers on tap, without having to commit to a full glass if you were only wanting to have a taste. I settled on the Waves of Grain ale which I enjoyed. We ordered #1 pizza - toppings were very good but the crust was ordinary (did not eat the crusts, a sure sign of a lackluster dough). Service was friendly but spare (it's almost all self-serve, so not much of a role for staff except to direct confused patrons). The space was open with lots of seating. Ambiance is industrial/parking lot. It's located where the old (and kitschy) Rancho Rankin motel used to be, which old time Cincinnatians might remember.

A consortium of Brewers got together and decided to open their own brewery. It's a story book…read moretale that actually worked. At Big Ash Brewing is all about the beer. They have a beer "Vending Area" area. You get a cash card then you pick and dispense your beer of choice. It's a great concept. Since I'm as newbie, I tried a small sample of several to find my favorite out of about 30 in-house brews. Then I got a full glass and sat down to some local entertainment. Tonight's band was "Twice Is Nice". A couple of talented guys who can sing pretty good, playing the music of Tom Petty, James Taylor & Elton John and a few of their own. After a few beers, We ordered food from the other "Vending Area". "Plan your own pizza" Sauce, cheese, toppings. Pick it up at the window when your buzzards goes off. The pizza was just "Ok". The giant pretzel was tasty. All said, the home brewed beer and the entertainment made this a great experience.
