I had a full set of lashes applied by Aliya about a month and a half ago, then a refill a few weeks after that. She asked me to write an honest review of the experience, so here it is!:
As it was my first time having lash extensions applied, I can't personally compare her expertise with that of a lash salon's, but a friend who's had her lashes done at salons before claimed my results with Aliya were at least equivalent, and that Aliya's price (at least, with the "first-timer" discount) was much better. Her application time (just under 3 hours) was a bit longer, but I feel this was due to the extra effort she put into ensuring each lash was applied properly. Also, my eyes were quite difficult to work with at first, which likely contributed to the lengthy application time.
To elaborate, my eyelids would just not stop twitching during my first session, to the point that I thought we were going to have to cancel and rebook for whenever they calmed down. After some quick Googling, however, Aliya was able to come up with an effective solution (taping coins to my eyelids, payment-for-the-ferryman style!). I very much appreciated her quick thinking and determination to solve the problem.
Her communication was also generally very good - she explained the process thoroughly and well, was very patient in answering my questions, and followed up with me after application several times. Scheduling appointments was slightly more difficult, as it sometimes took her one or two days to respond, but when she did, she always seemed to try her utmost best to accommodate my availability.
As for the lashes themselves - they were very natural-looking and feeling, and lasted the duration of my trip to the west coast, which involved running around in wind and intermittent rain daily for a week. I did notice they had a tendency to tangle, and the majority of them had fallen out by the third week, but from what I hear, this is common with lash extensions, and was likely due more to my inexperience with them and with proper lash care than anything else.
In short, I'd recommend Aliya to anyone who's interested in quality lash extensions!
Side-note: As Aliya works out of her own living space, the environment is very informal, and she often dresses in her sleepwear. This didn't bother me, but I thought I'd mention it in case it's relevant to anyone else! read more
