Good evening, I am a steel worker and own a small steel fabrication shop. Lasher helped us out during a job with some funding, and I asked how I can make it up and they just asked us to write about my experience with them online.
So here it is:
1. We were working on a large private hotel in Whitehall PA, and the GC went bankrupt during the job. Lasher Contracting was hired as the new GC on an already mismanaged project. We did not know them before this, and figured they were going to come in slash budgets and bring in their own sub crews to make more money. On the first day a project manager named Dale came in and called everyone to a meeting and got us all lunch, all 32 of us. He told everyone that he would personally make sure no one had to lay anyone off, and that he was going to relocate during the project to a hotel near the site, and gave everyone his room number and invited anyone including labores to come and talk to him about any problems, or suggestions they had. I have NEVER seen a GC care at all the way he did. He also said he would not hire any new subs, as long as we were performing to his standards. He went on about some great ideas to speed up the project, and get some cash to all of us. He then asked the owners to stay in the meeting, and sent everyone else back to work, he even asked his team to leave. We were concerned he was about to tell us some bad news. Instead he said and I quote "who's out of money?"! I raised my hand and said we have a lot out on steel and we are staying in hotels here and are basically out of money. He asked how much i needed to stay a float, and said I will only do this once; I told him some high figure thinking he would knock it down and down, he didn't he looked at me, and said are you going to screw me, I said no; he said okay and sat down and wrote me a check. I did not believe it was real until I cashed it. The project finished 3 weeks early, and Lasher received a massive completion bonus for getting the project back on track. He gave each of us 10% of the bonus and kept 10% for himself, he had rights to the full amounts. He might of saved my business and I am greatful, but besides that he gave me faith in humanity. I always thought that big GC's were heartless, but him and their team of project managers are real people. 4-5 of my guys also went to his room and he loaned them money also; he said he saw how hard we were working, and how much the old GC took advantage. I am not much of a writer, I hope if you take anything from this review its that this company is like one big family, letting any good person in. I would go to hell and back for that guy. I get emotional just thinking about that day he came in and saved us, when we though he was firing us. Oh the money he gave us, when we went to give it back to him, he said give me half, you keep half.
